Step1. Lead-in(3mins)
Teacher shares a stry abut theatrical perfrmances happened yesterday and intrduces the tpic f the lessn---Beijing Opera.
激发学生的兴趣,引出课程主题:戏剧。
Then teacher asks three questins accrding t the pictures shwn n the screen.
Q1. What d yu knw abut Beijing Opera?
Q2. What are the majr rles n the Peking Opera stage?
Teacher gives students few minutes t think abut these tw questins and then gives the answer.
(Beijing pera is a special art frm in China, ften referred t as Peking pera in English. They fall int fur majr rles——sheng, dan, jing, chu.)
提供背景知识,简单介绍京剧和京剧中的角色,为了之后引出京剧大师梅兰芳做铺垫。

Step2. Befre-watching(5mins)
Activity1. Read fr the basic infrmatin
Teacher asks the questin after reading the passage n page 12, “D yu understand what a cultural ambassadr is?”
Then, teacher gives the definitin f “ambassadr” and explain the reasn why Mei Lanfang is called “a cultural ambassadr”.
学生关注ambassadr的含义,并与梅兰芳的京剧事业关联,了解他在国际文化交流中作出的贡献。
Activity2. Predictin
Teacher explains sme difficult phrases t lwer the difficulty f the passage. Students match the time phrases with the events in Mei Lanfang’s life.
听前进行预测,教师解释重难点词块,帮助学生扫除词汇障碍。
Step3. While-watching(8mins)
Activity1. Match the time phrases
Students watch the vide and check whether their matching is crrect.
学生第一次观看视频(无字幕),检查预测的答案是否正确。
教师用时间线的形式帮学生梳理梅兰芳的人生经历,加上视频截图,理清学生思路,增加课程的趣味性。

Students watch the vide again and cmplete the sentences.
第二次看视频(有字幕),选择相关片段进行填空。

Students watch the whle vide again and answer the fllwing questins:

第三次观看视频,深入思考:梅兰芳是如何取得艺术成就的?梅兰芳深受中国人民爱戴的原因是什么?
Activity4. Mind map f Mei Lanfang
引导学生从“his tremendus artistic skill” “great kindness”、“deep lve fr his cuntry”三个方面做总结性的表述。
Step4. After-watching(14mins)
After watching, students think further and try t describe Mei Lanfang by using the infrmatin they’ve learned tday.
“Wh else can yu think f that has cmmitted himself/ herself t the develpment f China?”
(There are many peple wh have cmmitted themselves t the develpment f China. One persn I admire is Tu Yuyu. She discvered artemisinin, which is an hnr fr China’s scientific research and Chinese medicine t be spread arund the wrld.)
