Brn in 1954, Jn Krakauer started climbing when he was eight years ld. Int Thin Air, his best-selling memir, recrds the tragedy n Qmlangma he experienced.
When descending frm the peak f the muntain, fur members f his six-member team died f a sudden strm. He came back with majr dubts abut muntain climbing, which he wrte abut in his bk. Nevertheless, as shwn in the vide, Krakauer has cntinued t climb.
In a bid t hnr the twelve climbers died in the strm (there were ther teams n the muntain in additin t Krakauer’s team), he set up the ’96 Qmlangma Memrial Fund t prvide financial supprt fr muntain climbers in the Himalayas. Apart frm being a climber, Krakauer als wrks as an investigative jurnalist and a wide range f bks has been authred.
