设空处无提示词,且“ is reprted”前后是一个完整的句子“The number f smkers has drpped by 18 percent in just ne year.”, is reprted中缺少主语,故推测设空处引导的是非限制性定语从句,结合句意可知此处表示“正如所报道的那样”,故填as。
Rwan has had t d all his wn typing.”,设空处无提示词且前面有逗号,此处指的是Dr.

根据第一段第四句中“shared bth her lve f skiing and muntain climbing and her interest in labratry research”可知,格蒂的丈夫卡尔和她有着相同的兴趣爱好。故选A。
根据最后一段第二句“She fught the disease fr ten years, refusing t give up her research until the last few mnths f her life.”
While in medical schl, Gerty encuntered Carl Cri, a classmate wh shared bth her lve f skiing and muntain climbing and her interest in labratry research.
2.A 主旨句。 故选A。
5.cntribute t有助于
长难句
原句 Surprisingly, it wasn't the cntent f an idea, r its subject, that determined whether smething was art r science, but hw the idea was expressed.
1.C 根据文章第一句“The captain f the ship, the Beagle, wanted smene...” answer the call响应号召。
故选A。
be fascinated by对…… 故选D。
4.B 根据文章第一段中的“The captain f the ship, the Beagle”可知,贝格尔号是一艘船(ship)。
5.A 根据“Charles Darwin, was a gelgist and naturalist”可知,达尔文是一位地质学家和博物学家,所以他会研究(study)各种生物。故选A。
be similar t与……相似。故选A。
be regarded as意为“被认为是……”。
故选A。
5.varius adj.
