A

India is an ancient civilization with rich cultural heritage，and its cultural heritage has something to do with all major religions (宗教)of the world.Here we take a look at some of the top heritage destinations in India.

Sun Temple，Konark

As the name suggests this temple is all about the power of the sun God.A huge chariot (二轮战车)drawn by seven horses and twelve pairs of wheels reflect (反映) the importance which ancient people placed on the power of the sun.The pictures of animals and humans give this place a special look.

Churches Goa

Goa is the only Indian state which was controlled by the Portuguese，so the scene in Goa is dotted (点缀)with Portuguese style churches.Some of the famous churches include the church of Saint Catherine，church of Saint Augustine and church of Saint Francis of Assisi.These churches show beautiful paintings and flower designs which make them a must visit.

Ajanta and Ellora Caves

These caves contain well designed paintings which are widely regarded as the most outstanding works of Buddhist religious art.

Taj Mahal，Agra

Built on the bank of the Yamuna River，it is an excellent building.The writing and paintings on the outside structure provide the finest examples of the outstanding style of buildings.

Sanchi

Sanchi is a UNESCO world heritage site with numerous Buddhist temples dating back to the seventh and eighth centuries.

On your visit to India，be sure to visit some of these heritage destinations.An Indian journey is not wonderful without experiencing the beauty of these heritage destinations.

Collector's Corner

People collect a wide variety of things，from the obvious ones like stamps or coins，to the less common ones，such as beer bottles.Some collectors spend hours looking through junk shops and build a collection for a few pence per object，while other collectors might spend thousands of pounds on antiques(古董)，fine china or rare paintings.

Some people collect for money，but most people do it for fun.Collecting is basically illogical(不合逻辑的)．If you simply want to listen to a singer's first record，you can get a copy at most record shops.A collector，however，will want to own an original 1955 disc，and will be willing to pay for it.

What makes an item valuable？Rarity(罕见) and conditions are the most important factors.A coin or stamp which is worth hundreds in perfect condition might be worth only a few pence in average or poor conditions.

What should you collect？Most collectors begin collecting things which interest them，and as the collection grows，knowledge of the subject grows.If you want your collection to grow in value，it is probably best to avoid things which are sold especially for collectors.Nearly everybody who buys a set of new coins or stamps will keep them in perfect condition，so that the new coins or stamps will never become rare.The most valuable items are often things that were widely available but were usually thrown away after use，such as toy cars.An interesting collection can be started very cheaply.

The world is a colorful landscape of different languages，skin colors，and different cultures.It's important to have a good understanding of different cultures in order to become a well­rounded person.  1 

One way is to read books written by authors from a particular culture.Reading works by authors who have a close relationship with a particular culture allows people to gain an authentic glimpse into the food，music，language，religion，and a way of life of a particular group of people.  2 

Another way to learn about different cultures is to try to learn a foreign language.  3   A person can choose a language he/she has always wanted to learn and locate learning programs to help him/her master the language.Besides，one can enroll in a foreign language class in order to learn in a more formal setting.One can also try to visit areas of the city to establish social connection with native speakers of the language.

  4  Seek out restaurants that feature authentic food from a variety of countries.Food is an important part of different cultures and allows people to gain deep understanding into a particular cultural group's way of life.

Communicating with people from other countries through email or snail mail is another useful way to become familiar with different cultures.  5   Various websites offer pen pal services，offering to connect individuals with pen friends around the world.
