Brn in Ningb, Zhejiang Prvince n 30 December 1930, Tu Yuyu studied at Beijing Medical Cllege(nw Peking University Health Science Centre) frm 1951 t 1955. Since1955, she has wrked at China Academy f Chinese Medical Sciences as a tenured and chief researcher. In 1969, she wrked as the leader f a research team aiming t discver a treatment fr malaria. By 1972, she had managed t extract qinghasu frm a Chinese herb, which is very effective in fighting malaria.
