Night-Shining White《照夜白》
Night-Shining White is a prtrait, and the name, f a favrite hrse f Emperr Xuanzng . The painting is 34 cm wide by 30.8 cm high. It is an example f “baihua”(r “white painting”), a term used in Tang texts t describe mnchrme (黑白的) painting with ink shading, as ppsed t full clur painting.
Han Gan (韩干, 约706年-783年) , a leading hrse painter f the Tang dynasty, was knwn fr capturing nt nly the physical likeness f a hrse but als its spirit.
