They cmpete with the animals fr fd as lins eat their cattle. We're trying t find ways in which the wildlife will becme smething useful t them. ” They had the Predatr Cmpensatin Fund funded in 2003. After much discussin, a grup f Masai farmers agreed t prtect lins. In turn, if lins r ther predatrs kill their cattle, the Masai wner will be paid market value fr the dead animals frm the fund.
One man said that in the past, when a lin killed cattle, they killed it n the spt. And nw, after the start f the prgram, the Masai see the lin ppulatin grwing. Since 2003, nly fur lins have been killed here.

“There may never be a standard answer t the questin f whether we shuld give mre attentin t the envirnment r human develpment,” said Rbert May, a British expert at Oxfrd University. “But we shuldn't put either ne t ne side, as the future is uncertain.”
