    The fact was that Edisn liked asking strange questins in class. His teachers thught he was addled (头脑糊涂的). They culd n lnger stand him and decided t stp him frm ging t schl. Hwever, Edisn's mther didn't give up n her sn. She taught him at hme.
    After many years Edisn's mther died and he was already ne f the greatest inventrs. One day he was lking thrugh the ld family things. Suddenly he saw a piece f flded paper in the crner f a drawer. He tk it and pened it up. It read, “Yur sn is addled. We wn't let him cme t schl any mre.”
    Edisn cried fr hurs and then he wrte in his diary, “Thmas Alva Edisn was an addled child, but, because f his her mther, he becmes the genius f the century.”
    Having faith in thse we lve is very imprtant. We shuld have faith in thse arund us. Even if thers have given up n yu, yu shuld have faith in yurself.

    The rm was filled with anger. We culd nt have stayed tgether fr a single minute but fr a phne call. Lily answered it. Frm her end f the cnversatin, I culd tell right away her grandma was seriusly ill. When she hung up, she quickly crawled (爬) under her cvers, sbbing. Obviusly, that was smething she shuld nt g thrugh alne. All f a sudden, a warm feeling f sympathy(同情) rse up in my heart.
    Slwly, I cllected the pencils, tk back the bks, made my bed, cleaned the scks and swept the flr, even n her side.I gt s lst in my wrk that I even didn't ntice Lily had sat up. She was watching, her tears dried and her expressin a kind f disbelief. Then, she reached ut her hands t grasp mine. I lked up int her eyes. She smiled at me, “Thanks.”
    Lily and I stayed rmmates fr the rest f the cllege years. We didn't always agree, but we learned.
