第四节 书面表达
请认真阅读下面有关文化冲击的文字,并按要求用英语写一篇150词左右的文章。
Studying abroad is exciting but also challenging. One of the most common challenges international students studying in the U.S. face is “culture shock”. Culture shock is a feeling of disorientation (迷惘) many people feel when they experience an entirely new way of life.
You may occasionally feel confused, unsure and uncomfortable, and fine it difficult to adjust to the culture of your host country because people may hold different values and adopt new ways of doing things, which seem strange to you. You may feel that everything has changed, including your immediate support system of family and friends.
Remember that everything you’re feeling is completely normal, and you are never alone. To minimize the shock, you will probably want to keep in touch with family and friends back home — but it is also important to identify new sources of support. There are always resources available to you. If you find yourself struggling with culture shock, it might be a good idea to visit your school’s website and learn what kind of services they offer to international students who have trouble adjusting.
【写作内容】
1.用约30个单词概括上述信息的主要内容;
2.说明导致“文化冲击”的主要原因;
3.谈谈如何应对“文化冲击”(不少于两点)。
【写作要求】
1.写作过程中不能直接引用原文语句;
2.作文中不能出现真实姓名和学校名称;
3.不必写标题。
【参考答案】
One possible version:
It’s usual for overseas students, who have difficulty adjusting to a new culture, to experience culture shock. Luckily, there are resources that can help them make it through those bard times.
One of the most important factors that give rise to the phenomenon is that people from another culture usually grow up with values and beliefs that differ from those of the host country. If they fail to recognize the differences, they are bound to experience culture shock.
To overcome culture shock, firstly, you can read about the place where you’re staying and if possible, speak to someone already studying or living there. Secondly, keep in mind that people and things there may be very different from what you’re used to. Realizing that misunderstandings may occur at any time will help you keep a cool head when you’re in trouble. Thirdly, keep in touch with family and friends at home who can understand you better.
