Everyone has two personalities (性格)—the one is shown to the outside world and the other is secret and real. You don't show your secret personality when you're awake because you can control your behavior. But when you're asleep, your sleeping position shows "the real you". Of course, people often change their sleeping positions at night. The most important position is the one that you go to sleep in.
If you go to sleep on your back, you ore a very open person. It means that you normally trust people and you are easily influenced by new ideas. You don't like to upset people, so you never express your real feelings.
If you sleep on your stomach, you are a rather secretive person. You worry a lot and you're always upset. You don't easily change your attitudes(态度), but you aren't very ambitious (有抱负的).
If you curl up(蜷缩) in sleeping, you are probably a very nervous person. You have a poor opinion of yourself. So you're often defensive. That means you don't easily trust others. You're shy and don't like meeting people. You prefer to be on your own. You're easily hurt.
If you sleep on your side, you usually have a well-balanced personality. You know your strength as well as your weaknesses. You're careful. You have a confident personality. You may sometimes feel worried, hut you don't often get blue. You always say what you think even if it may hurt people.
Have you ever noticed the position you go to sleep in?

You might have been told before that watching American TV series is a good way to improve your English. The show Friends is one of the most commonly suggested shows for English students.
Friends is a classic American situation comedy, or sitcom for short. It has been one of the most popular sitcoms since 1994. What has made the show so popular?
Its humor is, of course, the main reason. Sitcoms like Friends are full of lighthearted and funny jokes. According to a research, the number of jokes in popular US sitcoms ranges from 3.4 to 7.4 per minute. Friends has 6 jokes per minute. This pace of humor keeps the audience relaxed, but also fully involved in the show.
When you laugh at the jokes, you might hear people laughing along with you on the show. This is another special feature of sitcoms—the laugh track. Dating back to the 1940s, the laugh track aims to create a theater experience at home. This makes the show even more interesting—when others laugh, we want to laugh too.
But sitcoms are not only about jokes and laughs. As American writer Ken Sanes said, sitcoms are often about the trivial matters of daily life and every character is as real as we are. They have fears and foolish emotions, and also do crazy things. The weaknesses they show help us relate to them.
"Sitcoms give us permission to move beyond the idealized images of ourselves and the world," as Sanes wrote. "They give us permission to be imperfect."
    1. What's the main reason why people love to watch Friends?
    A. It is funny. B. It has a special laugh track.
    C. It is about our daily life. D. They want to learn English.
    2. What does the underlined word "lighthearted" mean in the text?
    A. Unforgettable. B. Serious. C. Enjoyable. D. Empty.
    3. What's the use of the laugh track?
    A. To draw our attention. B. To remind us of daily life.
    C. To help us understand the jokes better. D. To make us feel like sitting in a theater.
    4. According to Ken Sanes, which of the following is TRUE?
    A. Sitcoms are all about humor.
    B. The characters in sitcoms are foolish.
    C. The characters in sitcoms can be related to us.
    D. Sitcoms enable us to create idealized images of ourselves.
    5. What's the best title for the text?
    A. The Power of Humor
    B. Relax with a Good Laugh
    C. How to Improve Your English
    D. Friends—the Most Commonly Suggested Show

Comfort zone is a state of mind where there is the least stress. However, stepping into the learning zone can help to bring out the best in us. Here are the reasons.
Challenging yourself can help you do at your best
Stepping outside one's comfort zone is important to personal development. How can we expect to make ourselves better if we only stick to habit arid routine (日常)? We should try something we might not succeed at.
Taking risks is what helps us grow
As children, we're natural risk-takers. Rut as we get older and learn to fear failure, we start trying fewer new things. We pay a heavy price for our fear of failure. There is no learning without some difficulty.

Facing new challenges can help us age better
Our comfort zones seem to become smaller as we get older, but if we can keep expanding them, we'll open ourselves up to a greater world as we age. As we step into the learning zone, we will get more comfortable with the skills gradually and we'll start to move into the comfort zone. A study found that learning new life skills can help our brain sharp as we get older.
However, don't push yourself too far. Have you heard of "Yerkes-Dodson Law"? It means performance increases as stress grows, but only up to a point. If the level of stress becomes too high, performance will go clown. When stress becomes too great for us to deal with, we enter the danger zone.
    1. Compared with the comfort zone, what might happen to people in the learning zone?
    A. Learn to fear failure. B. Face more challenges.
    C. Try fewer risks. D. Feel less stress.
    2. From Paragraph 3, how will we learn more?
    A. By avoiding difficulties. B. By getting older.
