Task 1
Step 1 Warming-up
1. Guide Ss to have a free talk.
What do you often do when you’re free?
【设计意图】通过自由讨论,活跃课堂气氛,为引入本节课话题做准备。
2. Guide Ss to look at the picture and guess what the teacher’s hobby is.
【设计意图】通过看图,猜测老师的爱好,引出阅读这一主题。
3. Guide Ss to have a game of answering two questions about reading skills.
【设计意图】设置语境,用类似游戏的模式展开教学,激起学生的学习兴趣,为下面的各项活动做好铺垫。
Step 2 Presentation
1. Guide Ss think about the meaning of skimming.
【设计意图】利用图片,帮助学生理解skim的含义。
2. Guide Ss to choose the correct answer.

(1) Show the reading process of four people. Guide Ss to work in pairs and discuss whether they are skimming.
(2) Guide Ss to read the skimming process of two people, and think about how to get the main idea when skimming.
(3) Guide Ss to draw the conclusion: When skimming, read the title, the main headings, the first and last paragraphs, and the first sentence of each paragraph.
