一、教学目标

1. 掌握重点词汇和词组：lunar, calendar, animal sign, represent, appear, fixed, cycle, powerful, lively, practical, loyal, in all, star sign, divide, divide…into…, shape

2. 掌握重点句型：

They appear in a fixed order and the cycle repeats every 12 years.

It is you who shape your life and your future.

It is said that people born in the Year of the Tiger are brave.

What it says about me may be true, but for my cousin Julie, that’s not the case.  

3. 能够通过听，获取关于生肖、星座和对应性格的信息。

4. 能够和同伴表达自己对于生肖和性格的观点。

重点：

1. 引导学生正确朗读并理解重点词汇和重点句型的用法。

2. 引导学生学会能够正确朗读12生肖和它们对应性格的英文单词。

3. 引导学生与同伴谈论与生肖和性格相关话题的内容。

难点：

1. 引导学生能够通过听、记录下关于生肖、星座和对应性格的信息。

2. 引导学生和同伴表达生肖和性格的观点。

三、教学过程

Task 1

Step 1 Warming-up

Guide Ss to have a free talk.

(1) What year were you born in?

(2) What is your animal sign?

(3) What kind of person are you?

【设计意图】通过自由讨论，引入本课话题。

Step 2 Pre-listening

1. Guide Ss to learn some new expressions: the Year of Ox, hard-working, lunar calendar.

【设计意图】通过图片，引导学生学习一些词汇表达，为接下来的听力扫除词汇障碍。

2. Guide Ss to learn the vocabulary about Chinese animal signs and think about how to describe each animal sign.

【设计意图】通过图片，引导学生学习十二生肖的英文名称，为接下来的听力扫除词汇障碍。引导学生思考如何描述十二生肖，激活之前学过的词汇，同时引入新的词汇。

3. Guide Ss to read and complete the passage.

In the Chinese lunar calendar, there are ____ animal signs. Each of them represents a lunar year.  They appear in a ______ _______ and the cycle repeats every _____ years. They are Rat, Ox, ______, Rabbit, ________, Snake, ________, Sheep,__________, Rooster, Dog and ______.                                          

【设计意图】通过填空练习，梳理前面三个环节所学习的内容。

4. Guide Ss to work in pairs and talk about the questions.

(1) How many star signs are there in a year?

(2) What decides people’s star signs?

(3) What is the difference between star signs and animal signs?

【设计意图】带领学生了解生肖和星座的不同，激活学生已有知识。

Step 3 While-Listening

1. Guide Ss to listen and complete the form.

2. Guide Ss to listen again and fill in the blanks.

【设计意图】通过反复听，获取生肖、星座和对应性格的关系。

Step 4 Post-Listening

1. Guide Ss to summarize the differences between animal signs and star signs according to

their notes.

【设计意图】通过填写表格，梳理听力材料里的重要信息。

2. Guide Ss to look at the pictures and answer two questions.

(1) What do you think of them?

(2) What do you think of their animals signs are?

【设计意图】通过猜谜游戏调动学生学习积极性，同时让学生明白：生肖相同，性格不一定相同。

Task 2

Step 1 Pre-listening

Guide Ss to show their ideas: Do you think animal signs decide people’s personalities?

Sample:

I was born in the Year of the Dragon. The animal sign says that I am powerful. And I think that’s true. So I agree with it.

【设计意图】引导学生发表关于生肖和性格的看法，为接下来的听力活动做好准备。

Step 2 While-listening

Guide Ss to listen and take notes.

【设计意图】通过听记笔记，引导学生聚焦对话细节，锻炼学生抓取信息的能力。

Step 3 Post-listening

1. Guide Ss to work in pairs and act out the dialogue.

【设计意图】通过两人一组表演对话，锻炼学生说的能力。

2. Guide Ss to discuss: What decides our personalities?

【设计意图】促进学生学会思考、学会表达的能力培养，提高批判性思维。

3. Guide Ss to work in pairs and talk about their animal signs and personalities.

【设计意图】通过两人一组进行对话的形式，锻炼学生的口语输出能力。

Step 4 Summary

Summarize what they’ve learnt in this class.

Step 5 Homework

1. Read and recite the dialogue in Part B.

2. Practice talking about animals and personalities with a partner.

3. Write down their own ideas about what decides their personalities.

4. Preview Study skills.

【设计意图】通过背诵，积累表达；通过话题谈论，锻炼口语交际能力；通过写作，培养学生的独立思考能力及写作能力。通过预习，为下节课做好准备。
