The freezing Nrtheast hasn't been a terribly fun place t spend time this winter, s when the chance came fr a weekend t Sarasta, Flrida, my bags were packed befre yu culd say “sunshine”.I left fr the land f warmth and vitamin C(维生素C), thinking f beaches and range trees. When we tuched dwn t blue skies and warm air, I sent up a small prayer f gratefulness.Swimming pls, wine tasting, and pink sunsets(at nrmal evening hurs, nt 4 in the afternn) filled the weekend, but the best part- particularly t my taste, dulled by mnths f cldweather rt vegetables- was a 7 a.m.adventure t the Sarasta farmers' market that prved t be mre than wrth the early wakeup call.
The market, which was funded in 1979, sets up its tents every Saturday frm 7 a.m. t 1 p.m., rain r shine, alng Nrth Lemn and State streets.Baskets f perfect red strawberries;the redpainted sides f the Java Dawg cffee truck; and mst f all, the tmates: amazing, large, sft and rund red tmates.
Disappinted by many a brken, vineripened(蔓上成熟的) prmise, I've refused t buy winter tmates fr years.N matter hw attractive they lk in the stre, nce I get them hme they're unfailingly dry, hard, and tasteless. But I hmed in, with uncertainty, n ne particular table at the Brwn's Grve Farm's stand, full f fresh and sft tmates the size f my fist. These were the real deal- and at that mment, I realized that the best part f Sarasta in winter was ging t be eating things that back hme in New Yrk I wuldn't be experiencing again fr mnths.
Delighted as I was by the tmates in sight, my happiness deepened when I learned that Brwn's Grve Farm is ne f the suppliers fr Jack Dusty, a newly pened restaurant at the Sarasta Ritz Carltn, where- luckily fr me- I was planning t have dinner that very night.Withut even seeing the menu, I knew I'd be rdering every tmat n it.
8.What did the authr think f her winter life in New Yrk?
    A.Exciting. B.Bring.
    C.Relaxing. D.Annying.
9.What made the authr's getting up early wrthwhile?
    A.Having a swim.
    B.Breathing in fresh air.
    C.Walking in the mrning sun.
    D.Visiting a lcal farmers' market.
    10. What can we learn abut tmates sld in New Yrk in winter?
A.They are sft. B.They lk nice.
C.They taste great. D.They are juicy.
11.What was the authr ging t d that evening?
    A.G t a farm. B.Check int a htel.
    C.Eat in a restaurant. D.Buy fresh vegetables.
The freezing Nrtheast hasn't been a terribly fun place t spend time this winter和dulled by mnths f cldweather rt vegetables可知,作者厌倦了纽约的冬天,因为那里根本没有乐趣,同时也厌倦了冬天的根茎蔬菜,所以可以推断出作者认为纽约的冬天是令人厌烦、枯燥和单调的。
由. best a 7 a.m.adventure t the Sarasta farmers' market that prved t be mre than wrth the early wakeup call.
I've refused t buy winter tmates fr years. N matter hw attractive they lk in the stre, nce I get them hme they're unfailingly dry, hard, and tasteless.
I learned that Brwn's Grve Farm is ne f the suppliers fr Jack Dusty, a newly pened restaurant at the Sarasta Ritz Carltn, where—luckily fr me—I was planning t have dinner that very night.,句中的that very night是关键信息词。
    D
2020 is a leap year, and as we all knw leap years happen every fur years, right? Wrng. That extra day in February is designed t keep the Earth in sync with the astrlgical year. But, what yu might nt realize is that the maths isn't that simple and ccasinally we have t wait eight years.
The methd f calculating when leap years ccur might be a bit mre cmplicated than yu think. Way back in 1582 the calendar we nw use was first put int effect. The Gregrian calendar was named after the ppe at the time, Gregry XII. The peple wh created it realized it wasn't perfect t just add an extra day every fur years.
A day, f curse, is measured by the amunt f time it takes the Earth t cmplete ne full rtatin(旋转) n its axis(轴). A year is the number f days it takes the Earth t rbit the Sun, and mst peple assume the number is 365. Hwever, the Earth actually takes just under 365 and a quarter days t cmplete ne full revlutin arund the Sun.
S, every fur years we get an extra day, which falls n 29th February. Hwever, as mentined earlier, it is in fact just under a quarter f a day. S, by runding it up, we put the calendar ut f sync again -- which means that after a while we have t many days.
That imbalance has t be readdressed. Otherwise after 400 years we'd end up with three extra days. S in 1582, they realized that every turn f a century shuld skip the extra day t subtract thse three extra days. This is why 1700, 1800 and 1900 aren't leap years.
But wait, there's mre. The year 2000, the millennium, is a leap year. That's because ver a perid f fur hundred years we nly need t remve three days. S, every 400 years the turn f the century is a leap year. This means the next time yu hear peple saying," leap years happen every fur years", yu can tell them why they're wrng.
    12. What can be learned frm the passage?
    A. The Gregrian calendar was created by Gregry XIII.
    B. Reducing 3 days every three centuries, peple perfect the calendar.
    C. It takes the Earth less than 365 days t g arund the Sun.
    D. The calendar wuldn't be balanced if we had a leap year every fur years.
    13. What is the purpse f the secnd paragraph?
    A. T shw the histry f the ldest calendar.
    B. T intrduce Gregry XIII t the readers.
    C. T present hw Gregrian calendar was named.
    D. T indicate that calculatin f the leap year is nt easy.
    14. Which f the fllwing will be a leap year?
    A.2100. B. 2400. C. 2700. D.3000.
    15. In which sectin is the text mst likely t appear?
    A. A news reprt. B. A gegraphy textbk.
    C. A science magazine. D. An astrnmy bk.
通读第一段,尤其最后一句“But, what yu might nt realize is that the maths isn't that simple and ccasinally we have t wait eight years”可知,每四年有一闰年是错误的,有时候我们得等8年。
The methd f calculating when leap years ccur might be a bit mre cmplicated than yu think"和最后一句"The peple wh created it realized it wasn't perfect t just add an extra day every fur years”可知,确定什么时候是国年的计算过程可能比想象的更复杂,每四年增加一天的计算方法并不完美。
根据最后两段中"every turn f a century shuld skip the extra day t subtract thse three extra days"和"S, every 400 years the turn f the century is a leap year”可知,闰年的计算方法是在每四年闰一天的基础上,每到世纪之交时不闰这一天,而每400年要再闰一天。根据”The year 2000, the millennium, is a leap year”可知2000年是闰年,400年之后的2400年应该是闰年,故选择B项。

前文的the interview is a dialg 提到面试就是一次对话交谈,E项中的alk为本段小标题中的cnversatin和空前一句中的dialg的同义复现;此外E项中的d the interview为本段小标题'Dn't cntrl the cnversatin."
    19.【答案】A
