Step 1 Free talk
T asks Ss t talk abut the fllwing tw questins:
Q1: Did yu ever have prblems with yur parents? Hw did yu deal with them?
Q2: Did yur friends ever cmplain abut their relatinship with their parents? What advice did yu give t them?

内容的预测做铺垫。】
Step 2 Understand the way t summarize an email
T asks Ss t read the first email f part A and try t summarize its main idea in ne sentence.
T asks Ss t think abut the way t summarize a shrt passage in ne sentence by asking the fllwing questins:
Q1: Hw did yu get yur sentence?
Q2: Hw can we get the key infrmatin crrectly and efficiently?
T shws Ss the prcedures f summarizing.
Step 1: Read the paragraph nce withut highlighting r circling any f its text. This will give yu a general idea f the subject and the authr’s purpse withut getting t caught up in details and descriptins. Pay attentin t the authr’s purpse fr writing the paragraph.
Step 2: Re-read the paragraph while lking fr key wrds and phrases, usually the wrds r phrases the authr repeats.
Step 3: Underline the paragraph’s first sentence, which ften cntains the paragraph’s main idea.
Step 4: Write ne sentence in yur wrds by cnnecting the key wrds yu have circled. Avid adding infrmatin r pinins that are nt in the riginal paragraph.

Step 3 Practise and discuss
T divides Ss int tw grups. Then T asks the Ss t read the fllwing tw emails and try t
summarize them in ne sentence.
T asks Ss t discuss their summary and exchange ideas.

Step 4 Discuss and share
T asks Ss the fllwing tw questins:
Q1: Which prblem is the mst difficult ne t deal with? Why?
Q2: Did yu have any suggestins t Rebecca?
【设计意图:总结三个问题,并引导学生思考如何解决,培养学生分析问题解决问题的能力,并为下一阶段的听力做好准备。】
Step 5 Predict and listen
T asks Ss t underline the key wrds and predict.
T: We can predict by underlining sme key wrds. Fr example, in B1, frm “because” we may get t knw that Cynthia will talk abut the reasn why Rebecca feels unhappy. In part B2, we can predict that Cynthia will give tw pieces f advice and supprt them with examples. Can yu guess what prbably the advice is?
T: Yur guess is very reasnable. The first piece f advice may be talking with yur mther, frm “start the cnversatin plitely” and “let yur mther knw ... and ask fr mre free time”. The secnd piece f advice may be thinking frm the pint f view frm yur mther, frm “try t understand what she des” and “think abut why she des s”.
T asks Ss t listen t Cynthia’s reply t Rebecca’s email fr the first time and finish part B1 n page 23. Then Ss check the answers.
3. T asks Ss t listen t Cynthia’s reply t Rebecca’s email fr the secnd time and finish part B2 n page 23. Then Ss check the answers.
