本课时内容为“坚忍号”南极探险故事的延续,是一篇回忆录,文章以“坚忍号”大厨的口吻生动地描绘了象岛上船员的生活。文章结构清晰,基于故事背景,描写了船员们在象岛上面临的困难、解决措施,积极的生活态度和团队精神,以及最终所有船员获救的结果。
象岛上的船员们在面临饮用水短缺、生火困难、食物单一、天气恶劣等诸多问题的情况下,凭借积极的心态和团队协作精神,在逆境中坚持数月,最终成功获救,这种精神能鼓励学生即使面对困境,也应积极应对,永不言弃。
教学重点:获取有关留在象岛的船员生活信息;

After Shackletn and ther five members sailed away frm Elephant Island, the crew members left n the island tried all they culd t stay alive while waiting fr rescue. They gt drinking water frm melted ice and burned animal fat fr fire, slving fd prblems by varying the meals f sea animals. And they had t be careful nt t g utside t ften s as t avid getting ill. With s many difficulties and challenges, hwever, their discipline and team spirit kept them ptimistic and eased their fears in a psitive and successful way. Their ptimism and faith in Shackletn had helped them persevere in staying alive fr s lng. And in return fr their trust, Shackletn paid them back by his cmmitment t save them at last.

Hw wuld yu describe Shackletn?
Shackletn is a calm, wise, selfless, respnsible leader and explrer. His actins and qualities gave the crew members strng belief that he wuld cme back t save them and he wuld make it.
Hw wuld yu describe the crew members? Why?
In my pinin, the crew members are very brave, thugh a few f them are nt very psitive, and all f the crew members were at times wrried and desperate abut their situatin, which was cmpletely reasnable and understandable. On the whle, hwever, they remained psitive. This was mainly because all the crew members trusted Shackletn deeply and they knew he wuld d his best t save them.

This stry is abut the 1914 -1916 expeditin by Ernest Shackletn t make the first land crssing f Antarctica. Fr this task he used the ship Endurance with a 28-man crew abard. Hwever, they faced great trubles when the ship gt stuck in the ice and they had t abandn the ship. Cnsequently, they had t face the extreme weather as well as a dangerus envirnment with limited supplies n Elephant Island. Luckily, Shackletn and ther five members left the island t lk fr rescue and manage t save them at last.
Shackletn is described as calm and brave and takes his crew’s safety very seriusly. In additin, the rest f the crew are als brave and verall psitive. This was helped by the gd relatinship Shackletn had with his crew wh trusted him and knew he wuld d his best t save them.
What I like mst abut this stry is Shackletn’s perseverance in getting help and the crew’s bravery in surviving fr s lng. My impressin f them is very psitive as they must have struggled greatly in such a psitin f adversity. I felt very happy when I learnt that the whle crew survived at last.

Sima Qian was a Chinese histrian brn arund 145 BCE. He is famus fr his wrk Histrical Recrds, cvering 2,000 years f Chinese histry. In 99 BCE he became invlved in the Li Ling affair. The general was defeated and captured alng with Li Guangli, Emperr Wu’s brther-in-law. Sima Qian was the nly persn t defend Li Ling and the Emperr tk this as an attack n his brther-in-law. Sima Qian was sentenced t death but was given the ptin f castratin instead. He was then imprisned fr three years. Despite this great challenge, he cntinued with histries and develped many innvative techniques, such as interviewing, visiting actual sites, and examining dcuments frm different regins and times. He knew his wrk was mre imprtant than his wn persnal suffering and is tday cnsidered the father f Chinese histrigraphy.
