They say that effrt, determinatin and striving t reach a gal are wrth praising in themselves. It is cmmnly accepted that thrugh sprt ne learns t persevere, t sacrifice, t be self-disciplined, t wrk hard, t fllw rders, t be a leader, and t wrk with thers. Winning athletes are thse wh cmbine the gd behavirs with natural talent.

It is an ambiguus phrase, ne that culd be used t include managing t d smething as well as ging fr gld. Cmpetitin is nt unethical.
