T understand why Amy had a prblem with her best friend T knw what advice Cindy and David fferedT learn hw t maintain friendships in daily lives
    1. D yu think there are “friends fr life”? why r why nt?2. Wuld yu turn t nline cmmunities fr advice abut maintaining friendships? Why r why nt?3. What will life be like if yu have n friends?
    Watch and think
Read the vide script abve and answer the questins.I have n friends Sme peple say I have n friends when they’re cmplaining abut the friends that they d have. It’s just a placehlder (托辞) fr my friends are t busy t hang ut right nw r it can als be used t indicate (表明) the quality f smene’s friendship, like when yu’re in middle schl and hating yurself and the wrld and yu just desperately want t hang ut with smene wh hates the same thing as yu.
In this instance I have n friends means my friends dn’t really cnnect with the situatin I’m dealing with.Questin 1Why des the speaker have n friends?Because her friends are t busy t hang ut with her and they cannt really cnnect with the situatin he is dealing with.
    Watch the later part:
When I say I have n friends, I mean it quite literally (字面上). I can easily g an entire week and nly receive text frm mm. That’s hw many friends I have. Yu might feel a little uncmfrtable when I say I have n friends but why is that? Fr a lng time I was ashamed f my friend lessness and I never acknwledged it althugh I suspect the peple knew, and shame really refers t a feeling abut wh yu are as a
persn. S it was distressing (令人痛苦的) t grapple (努力克服) with what I saw as a defect (缺陷) in my character. I further ratinalized (使更合理) that if I didn’t acknwledge it that meant I didn’t have t deal with it r my lngtime underlying (隐藏的) prblems, but nne f that is true. It is true that my lack f friends desn’t reflect my inherent (原本的) value but nnetheless my admissin is pretty tab (禁忌).
I think we feel uncmfrtable with my admissin because we share the implicit (未言明的) belief that friends enrich the quality f ur lives. Nt having friends may be a marker f an unfulfilled life and it makes us sad t see peple living cntrary t their wellbeing.
