    Step1:Lead-in
    The teacher asks students to answer the questions whether they love watching movies and which one they like best.
    Step2:Warm up
    The teacher asks students to look at the pictures of six books in Activity 1 on Page 44 and answer the questions.

    Dream of the Red Chamber
    Dream of the Red Chamber,also called The Story of the Stone,written by Cao Xueqin,is one of China’s Four Great Classical Novels.It was written during the Qing Dynasty.The novel is generally considered to be the greatest of all Chinese novels and among the greatest in world literature.
    The Great Gatsby
    The Great Gatsby is a novel written by the American author F.Scott Fitzgerald.First published in 1925,it is set on Long Island’s North Shore and in New York City from spring to autumn of 1922,which ranked second in the Modern Library’s lists of the 100 Best Novels of the 20th Century.
    At first glance,the novel appears to be a simple love story,but further examination reveals Fitzgerald’s masterful scrutiny(审查) of American society during the 1920s and the corruption(腐败) of the American dream.
    Sherlock Holmes
    Sherlock Holmes is a fictional consulting detective(一个虚构的顾问侦探) in London created by Scottish author and physician Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.Holmes is known for his proficiency with observation(精通观察),forensic science(司法科学),and logical reasoning.Together with his assistant,Dr.John H.Watson,he pursues criminals throughout London,the south of England,and continental Europe.
    Rickshaw Boy
    Written by Lao She,Rickshaw Boy is considered by many to be one of the masterpieces of modern Chinese literature.It describes the difficult life of a rickshaw puller(人力车夫)during the years of warlord turmoil(军阀动乱).This book is famous for its vivid descriptions of life in the city of Beijing at the beginning of the 20th century.
    Moment in Peking
    Moment in Peking is a novel originally written in English by Chinese author Lin Yutang.The novel covers the turbulent(紊乱的)events in China from 1900 to 1938,and it focuses on the lives of several different families and people,along with their interactions during that time.
    The Iliad
    The Iliad is said to be an epic poem(史诗) written by the blind poet Homer,which is not only an important ancient Greek literature,but also one of the classics in the West.The poem consists of 15,693 lines,divided into 24 volumes(卷),and tells the story of the Greek expedition to Troy(希腊远征特洛伊).
    Share a movie review
    The Wandering Earth,directed by Guo Fan,has proved to be a great success.Described as China’s first-ever sci-fi blockbuster,it is already a hit in China and around the world.It is based on the novella(中篇小说) of the same name by the Hugo Award(雨果奖) winning author Liu Cixin.
    The Wandering Earth centres on three generations of a Chinese family:the grandfather,the father Liu Peiqiang,and his son Liu Qi.In the setting of the movie,the sun is dying out,and people all around the world have built giant planet thrusters(推进器) to move the earth out of it’s orbit and to sail the earth to a new star system.Leading the journey will be a massive space station that will ensure a safe journey.
    It’s Liu Peiqiang who’s volunteered to be part of the space station staff(工作人员),a job that will keep him in space for almost twenty years.Yet the 2500-year journey comes with unexpected dangers,and in order to save humanity(人类),Liu Qi joins a group of young people who boldly(大胆地) fight for everyone’s survival.
    The movie presents a traditional tale of nations and people pulling together to save the planet,with large measures of love,sacrifice,and redemption(救赎).The most memorable scene is towards the end when rescue workers fleeing to their homeland turn back and help Liu Qi to save the earth.With global conflict and division so prevalent today(在全球冲突和分裂如此普遍的今天),these messages of hope and unity have undoubtedly struck an emotional chord(引起了情感上的共鸣) in many viewers and made the film much more accessible for international audiences.
    With all of that said(尽管如此),The Wandering Earth is a massive,exciting concept and a solid tension story (一个充满张力的故事) that will keep you on the edge of your seat.I suggest everyone go to see it and enjoy a wholly different science fiction epic that marks a milestone in Chinese film.
