    I Teaching Design Principles
    Accrding t the curriculum standards f English, this lessn will uphld crrect directin and reflect the call f the era, aiming at develping students’ subject cre cmpetences which include language ability, cultural awareness, thinking capacity and learning ability by a series f learning activities based n the reading material f When Hamlet Meets Pecking Opera.
    II Analysis f Teaching Cntent
    1) The text is abut Man and Sciety—Literature, art, and sprts. The type f the text is a narrative essay. By sharing an experience f viewing the traditinal Chinese cultural heritage—Pecking Opera, The Revenge f the Prince Zidan, which is similar t Hamlet written by Shakespeare n the theme, it intrduces the features f Pecking Opera and shws the readers the charm f it, thus cultivating the respnsibility f students t prmulgate and maintain ur excellent culture.
    2)This Unit is abut stage and screen. By intrducing many excellent wrks f films, dramas, peras and all kinds f prgrams, this unit enables students t get mre familiar with the expressins abut the wrks n the stage and screen which is relative t ur daily life. The language is narrative, smth and easy t understand because it is relative t students’ real life. This passage als teaches students the grammar like nn-finite verb. Besides the language knwledge, mre imprtantly, it as well enhance students’ aesthetic and the ability t appreciate elegant art. At the same time it helps students t respect the excellent cultures f ther cuntries in rder t develp students’ cultural awareness and strengthen their cultural cnfidence. Lastly, it is beneficial fr students t develp critical thinking.
    III Analysis f Students
    Students are frm senir high schl, grade 1, altgether 45 students. Students shuld have previewed the vcabulary first, s they have pssessed abundant knwledge t start this lessn. The fundatin f these students is great and mst f them have the ability t express in English fluently. But sme f them have shrtage in terms f knwledge integratin and inductin, lgical reasning, critical thinking. At present, althugh students have a certain knwledge and understanding f Peking Opera, their knwledge structure is nt cmprehensive and systematic. Besides, they lack the deep understanding f cnveying the same theme f Western literature wrk by using the frm f Pecking Opera.
    IV Teaching Objectives
    After this class, Ss shuld be able t:
    memrize and apply the wrds and phrases relative with the perfrmance and Pecking Opera
    analyze the text and get the gist and the detailed infrmatin by reading skills like skimming, scanning and careful reading
    share their wn pinins twards Pecking Opera accrding t their life experience
    develp a cultural cnfidence twards excellent traditinal Chinese culture and the critical thinking f the integratin between the Western and Chinese culture.

    This is a typical reading class. Based n the theme f the whle unit, this class makes the elegant aesthetic the clue f the whle prcedure f teaching. Frm letting Ss appreciating the cut f Pecking Opera and Hamlet which prvide a direct presentatin fr students t leading t the main purpse and detailed infrmatin and then sublimating the cntent by making Ss debate t think the cultural integratin critically, the structure f this class is integrated and reasnable. The design f the class is clrful and challenging fr Ss. The key pints f this reading material is nt just abut the language itself, but the cultural awareness it cntains. S, the teacher pays mre attentin t intrduce the cultural backgrund and knwledge rather than the basic wrds r grammars. On the whle, this class achieve the teaching bjects and make the Ss the master f the class.
    As fr the advantages f this class, firstly, it is interesting and well-arranged s that the Ss are easy t cncentrate n the class. Secndly, in the PWP mde teaching methd, the teacher pays attentin t cmbine varius interactin mde including CW, IW, GW, s the frms f the class is diverse and can challenge the Ss as much as pssible. T guides the Ss t learn the passage frm a shallw dimensin t a sublime theme gradually and make Ss achieve the internalizatin f the knwledge in the prcess f learning.
    But there still exists sme drawbacks. T shuld cnsider the difficulty fr Ss wh have lw level f English. Sme Ss might feel anxius because f pr ral English and have n anticipatin in the grup wrk.
