    Reading and thinking is a news report. The passage mainly tells about Tu Youyou Awarde Nobel Prize”, asks students to learn the Artemisinin research process, analyze and refine Tu youyou's excellent quality.

    2. Presenting some pictures of Tu Youyou , inviting students to tell something about Tu and artemisinin;

    Let students observe great inventions in the classroom, discuss and share the reasons why great people are great, with the aim of activating students' existing knowledge of the topic. The descriptive language mentioned by the students on the teacher's blackboard will pave the way for the students to read Tu Youyou's news stories.

    Based on your discussion, write a passage entitled “Tu Youyou: Our Science Icon”.

     

    Tu Youyou has become famous in Chinese medicine research. Tu, who was born in 1930 in Zhejiang Province, has been focusing on her research. In 1951, she was admitted into Beijing University. Later, she was rewarded the national advanced worker in 1994 and gained the award of outstanding contribution in 2011. In 2015 she won the Nobel Prize.

        As a result of Tu's discovery, the lives of millions of people have been saved. Her devotion to science, from which we should learn, is the key to her success. Therefore, we ought to put our heart into our studies so that we can make contributions to our country in the future.

     The answer is various. Thare are key words for reference, such as admirable(令人敬佩的),reform pioneer (改革先锋)achievement (成就)contribution(贡献),Chinese herb(中草药),cure(治疗),award(授予),artemisinin(青蒿素), modest(谦虚),prudent(谨慎).

     

     

    (1)Through the observation of the theme pictures, students can think about the characters and events. On this basis, focusing on the description of possible problems,which can arouse students'awareness of the problems and provide a clear direction for discourse learning.

     

     

     

    1.Students can carry out the whole reading with the information they need to help improve their reading enthusiasm and effectiveness.

     

    2 Students can draw the structure of the text based on reading, which is helpful to improve students' discourse awareness.

     

    3. While reading students should also get some details of the whole thing reported in the news.
