2. Introduce films.
Step 2 Presentation
1. Tell the Ss: Today we are going to learn something about films. Please answer the questions.
2. Write the answers on the Bb: action film, cartoon, horror film, romantic film, science fiction film, western.
Teach the words. Then the Ss read them aloud.

Step 1 Lead-in
1. Get the Ss to translate the sentences and then write them on the Bb:
1) 今天凯特生病了，但她还来上学。
Kate is ill, but she comes to school today.

2. Get the Ss try to write the sentences with although/ though. Then tell the Ss: that we can also say: 1) Although/ Though Kate is ill, she come to school today. 2) Although/ Though Tom is young, he can look after himself. Write the sentences on the Bb. Read the sentences aloud.

1. Explain although/ though:
We use although/ though to contrast two clauses. Although is more formal than though. The clause introduced by although/ though is called adverbial clause of concession (让步状语从句). We should never use the conjunction but in sentences with although/ though. e.g.
Wrong: Although/ Though it rained, but I enjoyed the journey.
Right: Although/ Though it rained, I enjoyed the journey.
It rained, but I enjoyed the journey.
2. Get the Ss to read the statement on page 98. Encourage them to raise problems bravely.

Tell the Ss: We can use so ... that and such ... that to emphasize the qualities or characteristics so somebody or something and show the result of it. e.g. 1) She is so beautiful that everyone at the party is looking at her. 2) She is such a beautiful girl that everyone at the party is looking at her.

2. Explain: So ... that and such ... that mean “如此……以至于……” in Chinese. We us an adjective or an adverb between so and that. We sue a noun phrase between such and that. Sentence patterns are: so + adj./ adv. + that + clause

We use although/ though to contrast two clauses. Although is more formal than though. The clause introduced by although/ though is called adverbial clause of concession (让步状语从句). We should never use the conjunction but in sentences with although/ though. e.g.

Right: Although/ Though it rained, I enjoyed the journey.
It rained, but I enjoyed the journey.
