A father from Texas built a theme park for his disabled daughter. On a family holiday, Gordon Hartman’s 12-year-old daughter Morgan went up to some children playing in the swimming pool. She tried to make friends with them, but they quickly left the pool. The event played on his mind. So in 2007, he started to build the world’s first ultra-accessible(超级方便的) theme park. “We wanted a special theme park. People with and without special needs could play there,” Hartman says. He brought together doctors and parents to discuss the facilities.
The park, called Morgan’s Wonderland, cost 34 million dollars and opened in 2010. All the attractions were designed for the disabled. Since it opened, Morgan’s Wonderland has received over a million visitors from 67 countries. A third of staff have disabilities and the entrance is free to any guest with a condition.
This year, the theme park opened Morgan’s Inspiration Island, a fully-accessible water park. “Fewer people were visiting in July, because it was too hot. So we decided to create a water park,” Hartman says. Parts of the island use warm water. It helps visitors with muscular problems. Altogether, the water park cost 17 million dollars.
Hartman says many visitors to the park are not disabled, and that the park is having the effect he hoped for. “It helps people realize that though we are different in some ways, actually we are all the same,” he says. “I saw one girl in a wheelchair go up to a girl without special needs. They began playing together. That was really cool. Morgan knows the park is named after her, but I don’t think she understands the importance of what it takes and how it has changed lives,” Hartman says.

A. Few people visit it. B. It opened in 2010.
C. It does good to muscle. D. It is designed for the disabled.
7. What’s the hope of Hartman’s building the park?
A. To help more disabled people to enjoy the water. B. To let his daughter know the park is named after her.
C. To change the lives of the disabled like his daughter. D. To help people realize that everyone is all the same.

Reggae music(雷鬼音乐) has recently become a global cultural treasure. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has added reggae music to its list of international cultural treasures. The purpose of the list is to teach about and protect many international cultural traditions.
UNESCO said in a statement that reggae remains unchanged as “the music continues to provide a voice for all”. The Jamaican government was pleased with reggae’s new status. Olivia Grange, Jamaica’s culture minister, said, “Reggae is uniquely Jamaican. It is music that we have created that has entered all corners of the world.”
Born in Jamaica in the 1960s, reggae music was an expression of hard times and struggles. But its rhythmic sound and hopeful lyrics also made it enjoyable music. Reggae music calls for social justice, peace and love. Its most famous songwriter and performer, the late Bob Marley, became an international star with songs like No Woman, No Cry and Get up, Stand Up.
Over time, the music traveled everywhere, from Britain and the United States to Latin America and Africa. In the late 1960s, reggae gained popularity in Britain and parts of the U.S., where Jamaicans began moving soon after World War II.
Many of the world’s most famous reggae musicians, like Jimmy Cliff, began their careers in Britain. Reggae also influenced other styles of music there. In the 1970s and 1980s, the British punk music(朋克音乐) world welcomed reggae. Soon, punk musicians would be making reggae-influenced songs. Later, British artists such as The Clash and The Police mixed reggae’s rhythms and sounds, as well as its political messages, into their music. This helped bring reggae to a wider audience. Today, musicians from a wide field of styles, such as pop, R&B and even jazz, continue to borrow from reggae.
8. What does the underlined part “reggae’s new status” in Para. 2 refer to?
A. Reggae gaining popularity worldwide. B. Reggae entering all corners of the world.
C. Reggae becoming a global cultural treasure. D. Reggae continuing to provide a voice for all.
9. What’s the third paragraph of the passage mainly about?
A. What reggae is like. B. How reggae develops.
C. Why reggae is popular. D. When reggae started.
10. When did reggae become popular in Britain?
A. Soon after World War II. B. In the early 1960s.
C. In the late 1960s. D. In the 1970s and 1980s.
11. What can be learned about reggae music from the passage?
A. Reggae developed from R&B and jazz.
B. Reggae is widely accepted across the world now.
C. Reggae singers usually have a strong sense of humor.
D. Reggae has an impact on many other forms of music.

Many researchers use the term artificial intelligence (AI) to describe the thinking and intelligent behavior demonstrated by machines, While AI can be helpful to human beings, scientists warn it can also be a threat.
Stuart Russell, who teaches computer science at the University of California, Berkeley, says humans should be sure to make AI products that we like.
“In the future,” Russell says, “many of today’s jobs that require a lot of physical labor will be replaced by machines with artificial intelligence.” These include agricultural jobs, and ones with repetitive duties like telephone call centers. AI machines can also replace jobs like ones in the financial industry — jobs that require studying a lot of data.
The health industry is one area that artificial intelligence is already changing. AI can process huge amounts of data, so doctors can use the most up-to-date information to diagnose and treat patients.
IBM’s Watson technology is already in use at hospitals in North and South America, Europe and Asia. Watson helps doctors keep up with information.
There is also a dangerous side of artificial intelligence. One example is combining drone technology and AI to create autonomous weapons.
Stuart Russell is working to create international treaties to ban such weapons. He says the risk is that people will use the technology to develop a kind of “poor men’s nuclear weapon”.
IBM’s Banavar points out the value of artificial intelligence, including search engines and the autopilot function on planes.
The debate about whether artificial intelligence is good or bad for humans continues. Researchers agree there is no question that the technology is here, and that will continue to change the life on our planet.
12. In the first paragraph, the author is aimed at .
A. introducing the concept of AI B. introducing the argument of AI
C. showing his worry about AI D. criticizing the new products of AI
13. What can be inferred from Russell’s words in Para. 3?
A. People’s lives are becoming better. B. Machines are cleverer and cleverer.
C. More people are in danger of unemployment. D. People are bored with today’s physical jobs.
14. What’s Stuart Russell’s attitude towards autonomous weapons?
A. Pessimistic. B. Optimistic. C. Indifferent. D. Opposed.
15. What do the researchers most probably agree with?
A. AI is definitely changing human life. B. AI will change our life for the better.
C. More people are needed in developing AI. D. AI is a big threat to people in the future.

My first job was at a grammar school. That was four years before when I just graduated from senior high school and finish the college entrance examination. As I had nothing to do that summer, I decided to find part-time job, earning some money and tasted the joy of independence.
I was responsible to answering the telephone and taking the message. I worked eight hour a day and six days a week. The work was neither difficult or heavy to me and I did it well. The most happiest thing was perhaps that I could spend the money what I earned all by myself.
General speaking, my first job was a good experience for me.
