His team was facing adversity(逆境)on the court and he was playing in a hostile environment―it was the opponent’s home gym filled with their supporters,and Nathan’s team was trailing(落后)for three quarters of the game. As for me,I had been dismissed from my job earlier in the day. During my drive home,I kept telling myself that I will find work again in a short time―I am confident in my experience and abilities. This is the same belief that I tried to instill in my son. The basketball game entered the fourth quarter with Nathan’s team still trailing. I saw the determination on his,as well as his teammates’ faces as they fought back to not only tie the game,but then go ahead by three points. Then,a player from the other team made an unbelievable shot to tie the game up again. With a tie game and seconds on the clock,Nathan found himself with the ball and with skill and confidence,he proceeded to make the basket with a defender hanging all over him. The other player was called for a foul(犯规). As Nathan stood at the foul line preparing for a shot that would put his team up by three points,I saw the focus and determination on his face,there was no room for self doubt. Nathan was able to tune out all the distractions and nail the free throw with such skill,it was as if he had done it a thousand times.  As I sat there,my heart bursting with pride,it dawned on me. I had taught him perseverance in the face of adversity,and he had just taught me the same lesson. That brief moment of self-doubt and feeling sorry for myself was blown away by the actions of my son on the basketball court. According to Penguin Intelligence’s 2017 China Game Industry Report, released in June, the annual market value of China’s e-sports sector reached 20 billion yuan ($3. 13 billion) in 2016, generated by gamers’ spending, copyright distribution, merchandising and e-commerce. A. dreamed of B. picked upC. benefited from D. carried out【解析】选A。词义辨析题。dream of 梦想;pick up 拿起,学会;benefit from 从……中受益;carry out执行。根据上文I want to go to college. 可知上大学是她的梦想,故A项正确。【技法导练】如何做好主旨要义题  纵观近几年新课标全国卷以及各省英语阅读理解题的考点分布及命题趋势,可见主旨要义题往往占据2-3题(4-6分),考生在面对这类题目时容易把握不准,丢分严重。主旨要义题一般会以三种形式来考查: 文章/段落中心思想类、标题类和写作目的类。   一、文章/段落中心思想类   文章/段落中心思想类题目的考查形式一般为: What’s the main idea/topic of the passage/paragraph? 具体解题方法可以有以下三步:   1. 识别文体,找主题句。不同文体的文章,主题句在不同的位置。如新闻报道类文章导语提携全文,主题句常在文章的首段;说明文同样如此;议论文一般为总——分——总模式,主题句(作者的观点)常在首段或末段(作者观点的重申),偶尔也可在一段文章中间;记叙文中一般没有明显的主题句,考生要特别关注记叙文六要素,读出作者要表达的主题;而夹叙夹议类文章主题句则常在议论中。   2. 关注文章中的连词和高频词。文中出现的连词(转折but/ however,因果 so/ therefore),或一些常见但在文章中间出现有一定目的的词(in fact,the study shows that. . . ,for example,in short),这些词后面所阐述的往往就是主题句。有的文章无明显主题句,主题句隐含在段意之中,这就需要对文章每段的段意进行归纳,在段落大意的基础上再进一步加工概括出文章的中心思想。另外,关注高频词 (特别注意其他问题中出现的高频词)。高频词往往反映出文章的中心思想。  3. 推敲选项,排除干扰。推敲选项正误的小窍门:   (1)根据第一步寻找主题句,找出关键词,与四个选项进行匹配,选出最合适的答案。  (2)正确选项常含有概括性的词语。  (3)正确选项一般不含绝对意义的词。  (4)正确选项应能起概括作用,内容全面。   (5)四个选项中,内容相近或完全相反的两个选项中往往有一个是正确答案。  二、文章标题类   与中心思想类题目稍有不同,文章标题是对文章中心思想的精炼概括。文章标题不仅要准确概括全文中心思想,同时具有简洁性和醒目性。解答这类题时,首先总结归纳出文章中心思想,然后根据选项和文章中心思想的对应确定最佳标题。  三、写作目的类   我们可以根据文章的主旨和体裁来判断作者的写作目的,因此,文章的首尾段或每段的首尾是阅读的重点,作者的写作意图往往就隐含在其中。   阅读理解B篇第7题,属于主旨要义题中的文章中心思想类。文章体裁属于新闻报道,故第一段开门见山介绍文章的中心思想。根据第一段和选项B中的对应可确定答案为B项。阅读理解A篇第4题,属于主旨要义题中的文章标题类。文章是夹叙夹议文。此类文章的主题句常出现在文末的议论部分。根据最后一段中的and he had just taught me the same lesson. 为主题句,根据主题句可推断出C项为最佳标题。语法填空阅读下面短文, 在空白处填入1个适当的单词或括号内单词的正确形式。Chinese athletes have made important contributions 1. the Olympic Games.
