环节1　新课导入

老师给学生展示一些世界奇观的图片，并让学生们谈一谈对这些奇观的了解。然后小组讨论，想出更多自己知道的世界奇观。

设计意图：以图片的形式进行直观教学，吸引学生的眼球，让学生把注意力集中到课堂当中来，同时也调动了学生的课堂积极性。

环节2　学习活动1－3

1．让学生观察第2－3页上的四幅图片，然后将它们与活动1中的名字匹配。

2．小组讨论。将学生分成四人一组，讨论活动2的4个问题。然后老师核对答案。

3．播放活动3的录音，学生跟读录音，整体感知，注意其语音语调。

4．让学生默读对话及小贴士Everyday English，把握对话的主题，并标出其中的生词、重要的短语和难句。随后老师进行讲解、分析。

5．让学生再次仔细阅读对话，完成对话后的练习，老师核对答案。

6．结对练习。将学生分成四人一组，分角色朗读活动3的对话。老师抽选一两组学生当堂表演对话。

7．要点点拨。

(1)That sounds great，though I think Victoria Falls in Africa is even more fantastic.

though作连词，意为“虽然；尽管”，相当于although，引导让步状语从句。注意：though/although不能与but同时用于一个句子当中，但可以和still、yet连用。例：Though she worked hard，she still failed the exam.尽管她学习很努力，她仍然考试没有及格。

(2)It produces electricity for millions of people in China.

million作数词，意为“百万”。当其前有基数词修饰时，million用单数形式，且不与of连用；当million前没有基数词修饰时，million通常用复数形式，且与of连用，表示概数，意为“数百万的”。【拓展】hundred(百)、thousand(千)、billion(十亿)等词用法与million相同。
