It was hard t lift her. She was just ut. But he managed t raise her the fur feet t the platfrm s that bystanders culd hld her by the arms and drag her away frm the edge. That was where Lisa briefly regained cnsciusness, felt herself being pulled alng the grund, and saw smene else hlding her purse.
Lisa thught she’d been rbbed. A wman held her hand and a man gave his shirt t help stp the bld puring frm her head. And she tried t talk but she culdn’t, and that was when she realized hw much pain she was in.

Jennifer said her byfriend was calm n their 40-minute train ride dwntwn—just as he had been secnds after the rescue, which made her think abut her reactin at the time. “I saw the train cming and I was thinking he was ging t die, ” she explained.

Hwever, he had been an utstanding player and the deaf peple still talk abut him and his years in baseball.
William E. Hy was brn in Huckstwn, Ohi, n May 23, 1862. He became deaf when he was tw years ld. He attended the Clumbus Ohi Schl fr the deaf. After graduatin, he started playing baseball while wrking as a shemaker.
Hy began playing prfessinal baseball in 1886 fr Oshksh (Wiscnsin) f the Nrthwestern League. In 1888, he started as an utfielder (外场手) with the ld Washingtn Senatrs. His small figure and speed made him an utstanding base runner. He was very gd at stealing bases during his career. In the 1888 majr league seasn, he stle 82 bases. He was als the Senatrs’ leading hitter in 1888. Hy was clever; he threw right-handed and batted left-handed. On June 19, 1889, he threw ut three batters (击球手) at the plate frm his utfield psitin. The arm signals used by judges tday t shw balls and strikes began because f Hy. The judge lifted his right arm t shw that the pitch was a strike, and his left arm t signal that it was a ball.
Fr many years peple talked abut Hy’s last ball game in 1903. He was playing fr LsAngeles f the Pacific Cast Winter League. It was a memrable game because Hy hit a wnderful ball which wn the game. It was a very fggy day and, therefre, very hard t see the ball. In the ninth inning(棒球的一局), with tw men ut, Hy managed t catch a fly ball t make the third ut in spite f the fg. Ls Angeles defeated their ppsitin and wn the game.
After he retired, Hy stayed busy. He ran a dairy farm near Cincinnati fr 20 years. He als became a public speaker and traveled giving speeches. Until a few years befre his death, he tk 4-10 mile walks several mrnings a week. On December 15, 1961 William Hy died at the age f 99.
