    The tpic f this unit is “Bridging Cultures”, which is invlved with crssing-cultural interactin. And ging abrad fr further educatin is a way fr ss t learn the cultures arund the wrld and prmte Chinese culture. The reading text just shws the experience f an exchange student, Xie Lei in adapting t the new envirnment. In a new cultural surrunding, exchange ss may find it hard t adapt t the new life and academic requirements. T vercme all kinds f cultural shcks, they will try t fit int the new culture thrugh learning new things and asking fr helps. In this prcess, they will embrace the new culture and share their wn culture. Then, they will just functin as a cultural messenger wh are building a bridge amng cultures. Fr ss, they are interested abut it since it’s related t their future develpment. But they knw few abut cultural shcks and sme tips in crssing-cultural interactins. Thus, the teaching bjectives are designed as fllw:
    Teaching Objectives:
    T summarize the prblems and cultural shcks f exchange students in adapting t the new life abrad and the strategies fr crssing-cultural interactin by analyzing the challenges f Xie Lei.
    T analyze the rle f exchange students in prmting culture and crssing-cultural cmmunicatin by reading fr the experience f Xie Lei.
    T evaluate the significance f crssing-cultural cmmunicatin by thinking abut why peple chse t jining in exchange prgrammes.
