"It was really perfect," said Julia Ruelle f her recent adventure t the Bundary Waters Cane Area Wilderness with three f her childhd friends. "By unplugging, we had an amazing time."
Last year, the 16-year-ld tk part in an essay cntest and carried ff a prize. The award was a 5-day cane and camping adventure with up t three friends. N parents r guides wuld be there. S Julia invited her friends Anna Wander, Madeline Wilsn and Julianna Trelli.
The fur Minnetnka High Schl junirs arrived in Ely fr training the day befre they began the jurney. They set ut the next day at 7 a. m., quickly develping a rutine.
"We were dne paddling by nn," Julia said. "We ate lunch at the campsite and then it was time fr hammcks (吊床), reading, making friendship bracelets (手镯)and talking."
The girls all had sme experience in the utdrs befre.
