    Six months ago, 19-year-old Xie Lei said goodbye to① her family and friends and boarded② a plane for London.It was the first time that she had left China 【1】.“I was very excited but also quite nervous.I didn’t know what to expect,” Xie Lei recalled③.

    Another challenge for Xie Lei is the academic requirements⑰.The first time that she had to write an essay, her tutor⑱ explained that she must acknowledge⑲ what other people had said if she cited⑳ their ideas, but that he mainly wanted to know what she thought【6】! Xie Lei was confused because she thought she knew less than other people.Her tutor advised her to read lots of information in order to form a wise opinion of her own.

    谢蕾还发现,很多课程都把学生的课堂参与作为最终成绩的一部分。学生需要产生想法、提供实例、运用概念、提出问题以及进行陈述。刚开始,谢蕾不知道该说什么。可没过几周,使她惊奇的是,她发现自己居然能在课堂上大胆发言了。“我的报告是关于中国传统艺术的,非常成功,这增强了我的信心,”她说。“回国后我会使用这些技巧来做报告。它们将帮助我在未来打造强大的公司。”
