      Tu Yuyu is a great Chinese medical scientist. She was brn in Ningb, Zhejiang Prvince, n December 30, 1930. When she was 16, she became seriusly ill with tuberculsis(结核病). This experience made her decide t study medicine t help mre peple.She graduated frm Beijing Medical Cllege in 1955 and later wrked at the China Academy f Chinese Medical Sciences.
      In 1969, Tu jined a natinal prject t find a cure fr malaria(疟疾), a deadly disease that killed millins f peple every year. She and her team studied mre than 2,000 traditinal Chinese medical texts and tested ver 380 different plants. They faced many difficulties and failures, but Tu never gave up. She even tested the medicine n herself t make sure it was safe.
      In 1971, after nearly 200 failures, Tu finally made a breakthrugh. She discvered artemisinin(青蒿素), a pwerful drug that can cure malaria. This discvery has saved millins f lives arund the wrld, especially in develping cuntries.
      In 2015, Tu Yuyu was awarded the Nbel Prize in Physilgy r Medicine. She became the first Chinese wman t win a Nbel Prize in science. Hwever, she said the prize was nt just fr herself, but fr all Chinese scientists.

      Zhan Tianyu is a famus Chinese engineer wh has inspired generatins f Chinese peple. He is widely knwn as "the Father f China's Railways". He was brn in Guangdng Prvince in 1861. At that time, China was very weak and many freign cuntries lked dwn n Chinese engineers.
      When Zhan was 12 years ld, he was sent t the United States t study. He wrked very hard and graduated frm Yale University with a degree in civil engineering(土木工程) in 1881. After returning t China, he devted himself t building railways fr his cuntry.
      In 1905, the Chinese gvernment decided t build the Beijing-Zhangjiaku Railway. Freign engineers said it was impssible fr Chinese peple t build such a difficult railway by themselves. But Zhan Tianyu tk n the challenge. He led a team f Chinese engineers and wrkers. The railway passed thrugh many muntains and valleys(山谷), and the wrk was hard. Zhan used his knwledge t slve many technical prblems. He designed a special "人字形" (herringbne) railway t climb the steep muntains.
      In 1909, the Beijing-Zhangjiaku Railway was cmpleted successfully. It was the first railway that was designed and built entirely by Chinese peple. It shwed the wrld that Chinese engineers culd d great things.
      Zhan Tianyu passed away in 1919, but his spirit lives n. His lve fr his cuntry, his curage t face challenges and his hard wrk have made him a true inspiratin t all Chinese peple.
