Taking the entire family n vacatin can add up quickly — flights, rental car, gas, meals, snacks, and f curse, htels. Hwever, by ding sme research and using three little wrds, yu culd end up saving a lt f mney n accmmdatins.
First, search htel bking sites like TripAdvisr r Expedia and check ut the htel rates in yur lcatin fr the dates yu wuld like t bk. Take dwn all the prices yu find nline fr that htel. But even if yu find a steal f a deal r “a special discunt”, dn’t press the bk buttn n the website just yet.
After researching prices nline, experts say the best way t get the lwest htel rate is t call the htel directly — nt any f the custmer service r 1-800 numbers that culd be listed as a cntact number, especially fr a chain htel. Then yu’re ging t drp sme magic wrds. While yu might be tempted t ask fr “the best deal” r “the lwest rate”, yur secret weapn here is t use the phrase “cheapest nnrefundable rate.” Accrding t experts at Travel+Leisure, that phrase triggers htel staff t search fr the rm that will cst yu the least fr yur vacatin.
If yu d end up trying t negtiate a better price, mentin the numbers yu fund nline and then reduce thse prices by 20 percent. Apparently htels pay a hefty fee t be listed n htel bking sites, and that 20 percent culd actually mean mre mney than they wuld get if yu bked thrugh ne f them.
Just dn’t wait until the last minute t scre a deal, because that can lead t paying mre, nt less. Lazarvic, whse delayed purchase went even further, explains that less shpping has freed up mre time fr family activities, dinner with friends and making art. By ding s, as she puts it, “I gt ut f that need-t-buy-it craze and in the end I feel gd that I’ve made smething.”

23.(8分) Even when yu’re extremely busy, yu aren’t using yur time with 100% efficiency. There are gaps in everyne’s schedule where they aren’t ding anything imprtant. Even if yur schedule has n gaps, there is prbably lts f time where yu aren’t wrking as fast r as effectively as yu pssibly culd.
Why aren’t yu cmpletely efficient? It’s because time isn’t the limiting factr. If it were the limiting factr, peple culd wrk nn-stp withut breaks r any unprductive distractins. Instead, peple, even thse wh are highly prductive, need t take breaks, ccasinally prcrastinate(拖延) and slw dwn n tasks thrughut the day.
The real and mst imprtant limiting factr fr prductivity is yur energy levels t pay attentin. Energy levels limit yur prductivity because when yu’re tired, yu can have ample time and still nt get everything dne. Yur attentin ability is als limited, because even if there are a millin things that need t be dne, yu can nly fcus n ne r tw at a time.
Yu might nt be able t insert anther 4-5 hurs int yur schedule withut making sme sacrifices. But even extremely busy peple can add an hur r tw int their schedule withut cancelling anything. The reasn it’s hard t “find time” isn’t a lack f time. It’s because yu dn’t have enugh energy left t fcus n smething else that needs t fit int yur day.
I first suspected time wasn’t the real prblem during an extremely busy perid in my life ver a year ag. I was insanely busy, but at that time I still exercised regularly. I had daily-t-d lists with ver twenty items, and I still fund time t exercise. Hwever, after a few weeks ff, due t illness, I stpped exercising. I was nt busy by any standards, in fact, my schedule was incredibly light. Despite this free time, I fund it hard t find time t exercise. It seemed t get pushed later and later int my schedule until it was gne. Hw can I explain this dd experience? I believe yu have knwn it.

D.He pushed mst f the things later and later in his schedule.
4、The writer gives the example f himself in the last paragraph in rder t ___________.
A.prve what the real limiting factr is
B.shw us hw busily he needs t wrk
C.explain hw imprtant a healthy bdy is
D.tell us what an dd experience he has
24.(8分)There’s smething abut the New Year that always makes me read my hrscpe (星象) t see what lies ahead. I dn’t believe in any f it really but there’s cmfrt in being tld that the next 12 mnths will bring health, wealth and happiness. Well, it’s usually ver ptimistic, isn’t it?
There are many ther peple wh are als skeptical abut astrlgy (占星术) and its belief that knwledge f the psitin f the stars and planets can help us understand ur persnality r predict human affairs. Hwever, despite the lack f scientific evidence in its favur, astrlgy has been arund fr thusands f years, and is believed by millins f peple in bth the West and the East.
The West has its star signs every mnth and the East has its animals every year. I’m a Pig. When I first fund ut I was a Pig persn I was a little disappinted, and my friends (pwerful Dragns, friendly Dgs and fierce Tigers) laughed. Pigs have a bad reputatin— peple think they’re dirty animals that smell hrrible.
In the Chinese zdiac (生肖) there are 12 animals and accrding t ne legend, when Buddha left the earth, nly 12 animals came t say gdbye t him. As a reward Buddha named a year after each f the animals in the rder that they came t him, and the pig came last. S I thught I was unlucky being a Pig but this isn’t s.
It appears that Pigs are kind peple wh are helpful and giving. They tend t make gd friends as they are faithful, thughtful and trusting. Pigs are happy, ptimistic peple and have lts f fun—that sunds OK t me! Hwever, Pigs are ften naïve (幼稚的) and apparently it’s easy t cheat a Pig.
