21.(6分)We are enrlled in the full-time schl called “life”. Every day in this schl, we have pprtunities t learn new lessns. N matter whether we like these lessns r nt, we have t take them, because they are ur lessns.
Why are we here in this wrld? What is the purpse f life? Humans have tried t discver the meaning f life fr thusands f years, but failed t get the answer, because the meaning f life is different frm persn t persn.
Each ne f us has his r her special purpse and path, unique and different. As we travel n ur life path, we will learn many great lessns in rder t fulfill that purpse. Learning ur lessns well is the key t discvering the real meaning f ur wn life.
As we travel thrugh ur lifetime, we may be taught hard lessns that thers dn't have t face, while thers spend years struggling with prblems we dn’t need t deal with. We may never knw why we lve English, nt physics, which indicates that ur path is different. While traveling n ur wn path, smetimes alne, we shuld, first f all, take a basic lessn in penness.
Openness means being receptive. Life will present us with s many lessns, nne f which are useful t us unless we can recgnize them and are pen t their values. These lessns arc nt easy t learn, but we shuld regard them as gifts. But hw can we recgnize these lessns? It is a matter f what “glasses” we are wearing at the time. It is nt difficult t spt them if we take them as pprtunities. S when we are nt pen t learning ur lessns, failing a weekly English test might be like a disaster rather than an pprtunity t us. Of curse, the hard lessns may nt be fun, but they can actually be the biggest gifts we receive frm life.

22.(8分) As the internatinal demand fr narrative(叙事的) film/TV cntent cntinues t increase with ppular streaming services like Netflix and thers the tw questins then cme: will the cming generatins receive mst f their entertainment thrugh visual means rather than thrugh the written wrd and will such an increase f narrative film/ TV reduce the imprtance f reading?
Grwing examples f this trend include the diminishment(减少) f fictin in the cmmn cre (核心的)curriculum, the ever-rising culture f cmputer games, the wave f streaming services f wide internatinal reach, and mvies filled with special effects made fr children and teenagers. Nr must we ignre the ecnmic dangers that lie ahead fr the written wrd. The narrative film industry is a mneymaker that dwarfs(使相形见绌) the publishing industry.
The ther underlying questin, f curse, is “des it really matter if the written wrd bws t the wrld f film/TV?” Frm my pint f view, any diminishment f fictin delivered by wrds is a lss fr mankind.
There is n greater human feature than the imaginatin. It lies at the very sul f the human species. It is the brain’s mst pwerful engine. It is the essential muscle f life and like all muscles it must be exercised and strengthened.
Writing and reading are the principal tls that inspire, create and empwer ur imaginatin. Anything that diminishes that pwer is the enemy f mankind.
It shuld be knwn that I am nt ppsed t new media and technlgical advances. Instead, I have always felt it necessary t adapt t advancing technlgy. In fact, a number f my nvels are in varius stages f develpment fr film, TV, and live stage prductins. My hpe is that the written wrd will nly stand t be cmplemented(补充)by its visual cunterparts(对应物), nt pushed t the edge f extinctin.
Of curse, there are thse wh will present arguments fr the superirity f the mving image ver the written wrd. Each has its place. My argument is fr finding the right balance between it and the mving image.

23.(8分) Like a lt f health-care prfessinals, Dr. Brian Gldman finds it extremely difficult t draw bundaries between his wrk and persnal lives. “There’s this view that yu shuld suck it up and d ne mre thing,” says the ER physician and hst f CBC’s White Cat, Black Art. But that “ne mre thing” ften cmes at Gldman’s expense.
“Yu’re exhausted and a patient r their family lk at yu with begging eyes,” he says. “S yu have this dilemma: say that yur shift is ver r give until yu’re ttally spent?” Gldman’s wrk stress cmbined with family tensin after his mther was diagnsed with dementia 20 years ag. Caring fr her ver a decade was difficult, as was dealing with his father’s grief. “When smene else is drwning yu, yu have t grab a life preserver and save yurself,” says Gldman.
Setting bundaries isn’t just imprtant fr busy prfessinals; everyne can benefit frm managing situatins that cause undue stress r pain. Here are sme tips.
First, “If smene’s behavir makes yu unhappy --- and it culd be anything frm the way they speak t yu t repeatedly failing t stick t their prmise --- then there’s rm t set limits,” says Patrick Keelan, a Calgary psychlgist. We ften avid setting limits because we priritize the happiness and cmfrt f thers ver urs. In rder t cntrl t hi s im pul se, Gldman suggests framing the develpment f bundaries as a frm f self-kindness. When facing an verwhelming situatin like the ne he was in with his father, Gldman suggests reflecting n what is making yu feel uncmfrtable, unhappy r unappreciated. “Yu can’t relate t thers r be kind t thers if yu aren’t kind t yurself,” he says.
Secnd, nce yu’ve becme aware f yur needs, setting and maintaining bundaries requir es clear verbal cmmunicatin. There are three bstacles t enfrcing bundaries in a relatinship: fear, guilt and self-dubt, says psychlgist Nicle MaCance. We ften fear that if we set limits, the ther persn will reject us, r we feel bad claiming ur needs. Keelan prpses setting grund rules befre relatinships becme tense. Start by cperatively listing values --- like mutual respect, supprt, and lyalty --- and then building the guidelines frm these values. If yu’re struggling t reach a cnsensus, Keelan recmmends engaging a third party, such as a therapist, t help.
Nw, if yu want a bundary t stick t, yu can’t enable smene in breaking it. As such, it’s crucial t establish cnsequences fr transgressins ( 越轨). Otherwise, McMance says, “yu’re giving them permissin t vilate that bundary.” If they wn’t respect yur bundaries, yu have t d sme sul- searching abut the value f the relatinship. “When yu feel bad mre than yu feel gd in this persn’s presence, and when the relatinship is impacting yur self-wrth and happiness, it’s time t reassess,” says McCance. Saying n is hard, but she suggests framing it as saying yes t healthier relatinships. “We’re all better mthers and partners and brthers when we have bundaries.”
1、What d we knw abut Gldman?
A.He is in need f supprt in his wrk.
B.He is caught between his wrk and life.
C.He slides int the state f desperatin.
D.He always puts his family at the first place.

      A.priritizing thers’ happinessB.aviding setting limits
      C.failing t stick t their prmiseD.framing the develpment f bundaries

      C.Identify yur limits.D.Say n and mean it.
      24.(8分)The Alexander technique
Until earlier this year, I didn’t knw anything abut the Alexander technique—and saw n reasn t think I shuld. One day, the backache I regularly suffered was mre painful. I was brught up t think that the preferred way f dealing with aches is t d nthing and hpe they’ll g away, but I eventually went t the dctr. After examining me, he said, “Yu actually have bad psture (姿势). G ff and learn the Alexander technique.” Three mnths later I culd walk straighter and sit better.
The Alexander technique is a way f learning hw yu can get rid f harmful tensin in yur bdy. The teaching fcuses n the neck, head and back. It trains yu t use yur bdy less severely and carry ut the mvements that we d all the time with less effrt. There is little effrt in the lessns themselves, which sets apart the Alexander technique frm yga r pilates, which are exercise-based. A typical lessn invlves standing in frnt f a chair and learning t sit and stand with minimum effrt. Yu spend sme time lying n a bench with yur knees bent t straighten the spine (脊椎) and relax yur bdy while the teacher mves yur arms and legs t train yu t mve them crrectly.
The technique helps t break the bad habits accumulated ver years. Try flding yur arms the ppsite way t nrmal. This is an example f a habit the bdy has frmed which can be hard t break. Many f us carry ur heads t far back. The head weighs fur t six kils, s any inapprpriate psture can cause prblems fr the bdy. The technique teaches yu t let g f the muscles hlding the head back, allwing it t g back t its natural place n the tp f ur spines.
S wh was Alexander and hw did he cme up with the technique? Frederick Alexander, an Australian actr brn in 1869, fund in his yuth that he had vcal (声音的) prblems during perfrmances. He analyzed himself and realized his psture was bad. He wrked n imprving it, with excellent results. He brught his technique t Lndn and pened a teacher-training schl, which is still successful tday.
S if yu’re walking alng the rad ne day with shulders bent frward, feeling weighed dwn by yur trubles, give a thught t the Alexander technique. It will help yu walk tall again.
1、What des the authr suggest in Paragraph 1?

B.She gt bred with the Alexander technique.
C.She was sceptical abut the dctr’s methd.
D.She was unwilling t seek treatment fr her backache.
2、What is the principle f the Alexander technique?
A.Physical tensin shuldn’t be cmpletely relieved.

C.The practice f the technique shuldn’t be attempted alne.
D.Familiar physical actins shuldn’t be dne with much effrt.
3、What can we learn abut Frederick Alexander?
A.He managed t recver his vcal pwers.

C.He develped a frm f exercise fr actrs.
