In January, OpenAI began t intrduce a new feature t ChatGPT in certain cuntries. This feature, called ChatGPT Health, is designed fr users t uplad their medical data and ask fr health advice.
Hwever, a new study has fund that ChatGPT Health regularly fails t recgnize the need fr emergency medical care, raising serius safety cncerns. The study, which has been published in Nature Medicine, fund that in ver half f the cases that were real emergencies, ChatGPT underestimated the seriusness and urgency f the situatin.
The researchers created 60 realistic medical scenaris (场景) that ranged frm mild health prblems t medical emergencies. They als had dctrs lk at each scenari and decide what type f medical care was needed in each case. The researchers then asked ChatGPT Health fr advice fr each f these scenaris. They varied the patients’ persnal details and ther factrs, such as cmments frm family r friends, each time they asked. Altgether, the researchers received 960 respnses.
In 52% f cases where peple shuld have been advised t g t the hspital immediately, ChatGPT Health suggested staying at hme r making a regular medical appintment. On the ther hand, in almst 65% f nn-urgent cases, ChatGPT Health advised peple t get immediate medical care. ChatGPT Health was als 12 times mre likely t take symptms (症状) less seriusly and suggest less urgent care if infrmed that a friend r family member thught the situatin wasn’t serius.
Respnding t the findings, sme health experts have warned that using ChatGPT Health culd lead t peple nt getting the urgent medical care they need, as well as an increase in peple asking fr unnecessary medical care.
The researchers say their results suggest that AI systems such as ChatGPT Health are nt adaptable enugh t respnd t serius medical inquiries, and that humans may still be needed t versee such imprtant medical decisins.

Inspired by the thunderus ftsteps f the huge dinsaur in Jurassic Park, a German startup called IMENSUS has designed a rver (探测车) that culd change the way we explre the Mn. The rver generates seismic (地震的) waves that travel deep int the grund, creating artificial quakes t map what lies beneath. “We’re shaking the grund,” said David Frey, head f engineering.
On Earth, this technlgy helps mining cmpanies lcate valuable materials such as cpper and gld. Seismic waves slw dwn when passing thrugh dense, mineral-rich rcks. By measuring wave speeds with surface sensrs, prspectrs can identify undergrund resurces withut digging. But Frey believes the real ptential lies beynd ur planet. As space agencies set their sights n the Mn, accessing lcal resurces — such as ice at the lunar Suth Ple and reglith (月壤) fr cnstructin — will be essential. “Everyne’s just thinking, ‘Let’s g, dig, and use the material.’ But there might be a huge rck underneath. Yu want t knw this befre yu g, because it’s super expensive,” Frey explained.
Unlike past scientific missins that relied n unpredictable natural mnquakes, this methd wuld let the rver generate cntrlled seismic events n demand. Lunar seismlgist Dr. Nichlas Schmerr frm the University f Maryland nted that such seismic sunding can effectively lcate structures within the tp kilmeter f the subsurface, including lava tubes r buried ices.
Hwever, Schmerr als warned that extreme temperatures, slar radiatin, and sharp, rugh reglith n the Mn culd easily destry machinery. While IMENSUS’s Earth-based pilt phase is set t begin in 2027, applying the same technlgy n the Mn will require careful engineering t ensure survival in such harsh cnditins.
Still, bth experts agree that seismic explratin will be vital fr future lunar missins. Whether IMENSUS’s cncept reaches the Mn depends n the prgress f prgrams like NASA’s Artemis. But as Frey sees it, the same technlgy culd ne day be used n Mars r even asterids. One thing is certain: if humans are t build a lasting presence beynd Earth, we must first understand what lies beneath the surface.
      12. What d surface sensrs d in the seismic technlgy?
      A. Lcate ice at the lunar Suth Ple.
      B. Analyze undergrund resurces.
      C. Measure the speed f seismic waves.
      D. Dig ut mineral-rich rcks directly.
      13. Hw is the new seismic methd different frm past missins?
      A. It needs undergrund sensrs.B. It relies n natural seismic activities.
      C. It prduces cntrlled mnquakes.D. It investigates deep lunar structures.
      14. What des the underlined wrd “harsh” in paragraph 4 prbably mean?
      A. Severe.B. Calm.C. Mild.D. Nrmal.
      15. What is the text mainly abut?
      A. Seismic waves n the Mn.
      B. A new way t explre the Mn.
      C. Challenges f living n the Mn.
      D. Building an peratinal lunar base.
