      Dear Teachers and Parents,
This June, during Financial Literacy Mnth, we have sme t share.
In 2015, a free nline financial educatin curse named FutureSmart was intrduced t middle schl students, specifically targeting this grup at a time in their lives when financial habits take hld and grw.
Fast frward t tday, FutureSmart, available in English and Spanish, has reached ver
13,000 schls acrss all 50 states. Mre than tw millin students have cmpleted the curse, with almst half cming frm lw-t-mderate incme families.
But we aren’t stpping there. We prmise t reach fur millin mre students by the end f 2025.
Why? Because this mment calls fr brave actin. Never befre have mney management and investment decisins been s easy t cnduct at any time r place thrugh the use f a
smartphne. It is time t ffer students mre critical financial literacy educatin t encurage
them t make gd financial decisins n a daily basis as they make their way thrugh a cmplex wrld.
Frm weighing pprtunity csts t delaying instant satisfactin fr lng-term financial
gain, FutureSmart educates ur yuth using hands-n simulatins (模拟) t intrduce cncepts
like daily financial decisins and the rewards f lng-term planning. Teaching yung learners hw t build slid financial fundatins is an imprtant step in building financially healthy
      cmmunities.
Althugh ur wrk is far frm cmplete, we knw that FutureSmart wrks. And it wrks exceptinally well.
In the largest study f its kind, supprted by the MassMutual Fundatin and EVERFI, the University f Massachusetts Dnahue Institute (UMDI) recently cncluded that 90% f students
saw a statistically significant and educatinally meaningful increase in knwledge after taking the FutureSmart curse.
What’s mre, these results were cnsistent acrss all student demgraphics including race, age, gender, schl year, and sciecnmic status.
We have a lng way t g t reach every single middle schl student, but we welcme the challenge. Tgether, ur teams have started a mvement t prvide equal access t financial
educatin, and we invite thers t jin us.
Visit getfuturesmart. cm t learn mre and see hw yu can bring FutureSmart t the yung peple in yur life.

When she was yung, Sylvia Clt- Lacay nticed she was particularly fascinated with n- screen stries. Media ffered an escape when life was hard.
Watching Glee, she was thrilled t see a character wh used a wheelchair like her — until she learned the rle was played by an actr wh was nt disabled. “I remember feeling s
heartbrken and betrayed (背叛), fr n reasn ther than the fact that I felt seen fr nce as a 10- year- ld watching Glee, and the pwer f that,” says Clt- Lacay.
Nw, Clt- Lacay is graduating frm Stanfrd with a degree in film and media studies and is heading t Hllywd with a passin fr increasing disability representatin and diversity in
general. “Representatin matters, and I als think that diverse strytelling is what is mst cmpelling (令人信服的),” she said.
Representatin shaped Clt- Lacay’s path t Stanfrd. As a disabled Latina girl, she
struggled t imagine ging t cllege, in part because she never saw adult wheelchair users in the media. In high schl, she met- anther Stanfrd student wh was als a wheelchair user at a
cnference. Suddenly, a new stry felt pssible.
When she arrived at Stanfrd, Clt- Lacay knew she was ften the first visibly disabled student her prfessrs and peers had interacted with. Her parents had taught her t advcate fr herself, and while she desn’t claim the label “activist”, she asks fr what she needs.
“Yes, there’s smething that is in my DNA that makes my bdy different frm ther
peple’s. But really, what makes me disabled is that peple treat me differently, and I d nt have equal access t resurces,” she said.
She brught this perspective t her Stanfrd experience. Fr her senir thesis (论文), she wrte a screenplay examining hw grwing up with a disability impacts ne’s relatinship with neself and ne’s understanding f the wrld.
Clt- Lacay aims t becme an agent fr screenwriters and film direętrs. She hpes that sharing her stry gives thers the example she wished fr when she was yung.
4 .Hw did Clt- Lacay initially feel while watching Glee?
A .Overjyed and inspired. B .Hnred and cnfident.
C .Heartbrken and betrayed. D .Srrwful and sympathetic.
5 .What helped Clt- Lacay picture herself ging t cllege?
A .Her keen interest in films and media.
B .Diverse stries she heard abut disability.
C .An example f a disabled Stanfrd student.
D .A passin fr increasing disability representatin.
6 .What insight did Clt- Lacay gain abut living with a disability?
A .It naturally leads ne t grw int a scial activist.
B .It mainly invlves vercming physical limitatins.
C .It ffers special advantages fr accessing resurces.
D .It influences ne’s utlk n the wrld and neself.
7 .What is the best title f the text?
A .Telling Stries That Matter B .Speaking up fr Equality
C .Struggling t Enter Stanfrd D .Cnquering Physical Challenges

Imagine this. Yu need an image f a balln fr a wrk presentatin and turn t an AI text-t-image generatr, like Midjurney r DALL-E, t create a suitable image. Yu enter the prmpt “red balln against a blue sky” but the generatr returns an image f an egg instead.
What’s ging n? The generatr yu’re using may have been “pisned”. What des this
mean? Text-t-image generatrs wrk by being trained n large datasets that include millins r billins f images. Sme f the generatrs have been trained by randmly scraping nline images, many f which may be under . This has led t many cpyright infringement (版权侵权) cases where artists have accused big tech cmpanies f stealing and prfiting frm their wrk.
This is als where the idea f“pisn” cmes in. Researchers wh want t empwer
individual artists have recently created a tl named “Nightshade” t fight back against
unauthrized image scraping. The tl wrks by slightly changing an image’s pixels (像素) in a way that cnfuses the cmputer visin system but leaves the image unchanged t a human’s eyes. If an rganizatin then scrapes ne f these images t train a future AI mdel, its data pl
becmes “pisned”. This can result in mistaken learning, which makes the generatr return unintended results. As in ur earlier example, a balln might becme an egg.
The higher the number f“pisned” images in the training data, the greater the impact. Because f hw generative AI wrks, the damage frm “pisned” images als affects related
prmpt keywrds. Fr example, if a “pisned” image f a Picass wrk is used in training data, prmpt results fr masterpieces frm ther artists can als be affected.
Pssibly, tls like Nightshade can be abused by sme users t intentinally uplad
“pisned” images in rder t cnfuse AI generatrs. But the Nightshade’s develper hpes the tl will make big tech cmpanies mre respectful f . It des challenge a cmmn
belief amng cmputer scientists that data fund nline can be used fr any purpse they see fit.
Human rights activists, fr example, have been cncerned fr sme time abut the
indiscriminate use f machine visin in wider sciety. This cncern is particularly serius
cncerning facial recgnitin. There is a clear cnnectin between facial recgnitin cases and
data pisning, as bth relate t larger questins arund technlgical cntrl. It may be better t see data pisning as an innvative slutin t the denial f sme fundamental human rights.
8 .What des the underlined wrd “scraping” in paragraph 2 prbably mean?
      A .Prmting. B .Cllecting. C .Damaging. D .Plishing.
9 .Accrding t the passage, what may adding pisned data lead t?
A .Increasing the accuracy f returned infrmatin.
B .Causing users t frget the prmpt key wrds.
C .Affecting the training f generative AI.
      D .Discriminating against great masterpieces.
10 .What can be inferred frm the last tw paragraphs?
A .Data pisning is smehw justified t direct attentin t human rights.
B .Cmputer scientists have learned t respect the f mst artists.
C .Nightshade is being abused by human rights activists t recgnize faces.
D .The issue f technlgical gvernance has arused the lawyers’ interest.
11 .Which f the fllwing might be the best title f the passage?
A .Data Pisning: Restricting Innvatin r Empwering Artists
B .Data Pisning: Risks and Rewards f Generative AI Data Training
C .Data Pisning: Addressing Facial Recgnitin Issues Amng Artists
D .Data Pisning: Gvernment Empwering Citizens t Prtect Themselves

A few years ag, the City Cuncil f Mnza, Italy, barred (禁止) pet wners frm keeping gldfish in curved fishbwls. The spnsrs fthe measure explained that it is cruel t keep a fish
in such a bwl because the curved sides give the fish a distrted view f reality. Aside frm the
measure’s significance t the pr gldfish, the stry raises an interesting philsphical questin:
Hw d we knw that the reality we perceive is true?
Physicists are finding themselves in a similar truble t the gldfish’s. Fr decades they
have been pursuing an ultimate thery f everything — ne cmplete and cnsistent set f
fundamental laws f nature that explain every aspect f reality. It nw appears that this pursuit
may generate nt a single thery but a family f intercnnected theries, each describing its wn versin f reality, as ifit viewed the universe thrugh its wn fishbwl. This cncept may be
difficult fr many peple t accept. Mst peple believe that there is an bjective reality ut there and that ur senses and ur science directly cnvey infrmatin abut the material wrld. In
philsphy, that belief is called realism.
In physics, realism is becming difficult t defend. Instead, the idea f alternative realities is a mainstay f tday’s ppular culture. Fr example, in the science-fictin film The Matrix the human race is unknwingly living in a simulated virtual reality created by intelligent cmputers. Hw d we knw we are nt just cmputer-generated characters living in a Matrix-like wrld? If — like us — the beings in the simulated wrld culd nt bserve their universe frm the utside, they wuld have n reasn t dubt their wn pictures f reality.
Similarly, the gldfish’s view is nt the same as urs frm utside their curved bwl. Fr
instance, because light bends as it travels frm air t water, a freely mving bject that we wuld bserve t mve in a straight line wuld be bserved by the gldfish t mve alng a curved path. The gldfish culd frm scientific laws frm their frame f reference that wuld always hld true and that wuld enable them t make predictins abut the future mtin f bjects utside the
bwl. If the gldfish frmed such a thery, we wuld have t admit the gldfish’s view as a reasnable picture f reality.
The gldfish example shws that the same physical situatin can be mdeled in different ways, each emplying different fundamental elements and cncepts. It might be that t describe the universe we have t emply different theries in different situatins. It is nt the physicist’s traditinal expectatin fr a thery f nature, nr des it crrespnd t ur everyday idea f
reality. But it might be the way f the universe.
12 .Why were pet wners in Mnza barred frm keeping gldfish in curved fishbwls?
A .The gldfish can’t see thrugh the curved fishbwls t the utside wrld.
B .Curved fishbwls may interfere with the fish’s natural sense f mvement.
C .Curved fishbwls may cause the fish t have a false perceptin f the envirnment.
D .The curved shape f the fishbwls may disrupt the fish’s nrmal rientatin system.
13 .What des Paragraph 2 mainly tell us?
A .The cnventinal insight f reality. B .The lasting cnflict in physics.
C .The existence f the material wrld. D .The need fr a cmplete thery.
14 .What can we learn frm the passage?
A .Nature’s mysteries are best left undiscvered.
B .An external wrld is independent f the bservers.
C .Peple’s theries are influenced by their viewpints.
D .It is essential t figure ut which picture f reality is better.
15 .Accrding t the passage, the authr may agree that .
A .varius interpretatins fthe universe are welcmed
B .physicists have a favrite candidate fr the final thery
C .multiple realities can be pieced tgether t shw the real wrld
D .there is still pssibility t unify different theries int a single ne

Watching Glee, she was thrilled t see a character wh used a wheelchair like her —— until she learned the rle was played by an actr wh was nt
I remember feeling s
heartbrken and betrayed (背叛), fr n reasn ther than the fact that I felt seen fr nce as a 10- year- ld watching Glee, and the pwer f that,” says Clt- Lacay.
故选 A。
根据第四段“In high schl, she met- anther Stanfrd student wh was als a wheelchair user at a cnference.
根据倒数第二段中“She brught this perspective t her Stanfrd experience. Fr her senir thesis (论文), she wrte a screenplay examining hw grwing up with a disability
      impacts ne’s relatinship with neself and ne’s understanding f the wrld.(她把这种观点带到了她在斯坦福的经历中。
通读全文,尤其是根据第三段“Nw, Clt- Lacay is graduating frm Stanfrd with a degree in film and media studies and is heading t Hllywd with a passin fr increasing disability representatin and diversity in general. “Representatin matters, and I als think that

故选 A。

Sme f the generatrs have been trained by randmly
nline images, many f which may be under .(一些生成器通过随机 在线图像进行训练,其中许多图像可能受版权保护。)” 以及后文“This has led t many cpyright infringement cases where artists have accused big tech cmpanies f stealing and prfiting frm their wrk.(这导致了许多版权侵权案件,艺术家们指控大型科技公司窃取他们的作品并从中获利。)”
If an rganizatin then scrapes ne f these images t train a future AI mdel, its data pl becmes “pisned”. This can result in mistaken learning, which
There is a clear cnnectin between facial recgnitin cases and data pisning, as bth relate t larger questins arund technlgical cntrl. It may be
better t see data pisning as an innvative slutin t the denial f sme fundamental human
      rights. 故选 A 项。
根据第二段“This has led t many infringement (侵害) cases where artists have accused big tech cmpanies f stealing and prfiting frm their wrk (这已引发多起版权侵权纠纷,众多艺术家指控大型科技公司盗用其作品并借此牟利)”、第三段“This is als where the idea f “pisn” cmes in. Researchers wh want t empwer individual artists have
recently created a tl named “Nightshade” t fight back against unauthrized image scraping(这也是 “投毒” 这一概念的由来。

If an rganizatin then scrap ne f these images t train a future AI mdel, its data pl becmes “pisned” . This can result
in mistaken learning, which makes the generatr return unintended results. As in ur earlier
example, a balln might becme an egg(如果某个机构随后抓取了这样一张图片用于训练未来的 AI 模型,其数据库就会被“污染”。 故选 A 项。

由文章第一段中“A few years ag, the City Cuncil f Mnza, Italy, barred (禁止) pet wners frm keeping gldfish in curved fishbwls. The spnsrs fthe measure explained that it is cruel t keep a fish in such a bwl because the curved sides give the fish a distrted view f reality.
Physicists are finding themselves in a similar truble t the
gldfish’s. Fr decades they have been pursuing an ultimate thery f everything — ne cmplete and cnsistent set f fundamental laws f nature that explain every aspect f reality. It nw
appears that this pursuit may generate nt a single thery but a family f intercnnected theries, each describing its wn versin f reality, as ifit viewed the universe thrugh its wn fishbwl. This cncept may be difficult fr many peple t accept. Mst peple believe that there is an

故选 A。
The gldfish culd frm scientific laws frm their frame f
reference that wuld always hld true and that wuld enable them t make predictins abut the
future mtin f bjects utside the bwl. If the gldfish frmed such a thery, we wuld have t admit the gldfish’s view as a reasnable picture f reality.
gldfish example shws that the same physical situatin can be mdeled in different ways, each
emplying different fundamental elements and cncepts.
根据最后一段中“The gldfish example shws that the same physical situatin can be mdeled in different ways, each emplying different fundamental elements and cncepts. It might be that t describe the universe we have t emply different theries in different situatins. 也许为了描述宇宙,我们必须在不同的情况下运用不同的理论)”和“But it might be the way f the universe. 故选 A。
