Why: The text is Malee's intrductin t her favurite animal, the elephant. It calls n peple t prtect elephants. Students will learn and srt ut key infrmatin thrugh reading, and accumulate vcabulary and sentence patterns abut intrducing animals in preparatin fr the next writing sessin.
Hw: The text intrduces the authr's favurite animal in terms f appearance, abilities, and reasns. The paragraphs are clear, the lgic is clear, and the structure, vcabulary and grammar are simple, in line with the average level f students. They are easy fr students t learn and imitate. Students shuld pay attentin t the structure f the text and the expressin in the third persn.

1. Ging vegan
Ging vegan means that yu dn't eat, wear, r use anything that cmes frm an animal, such as meat, milk, eggs, leather. Just by ging vegan, yu will save the lives f mre than 100 animals every year!
2. Vlunteer at yur lcal animal shelter
Animal shelters are always in need f mre help! Whether yu are helping by walking dgs, cleaning ut water bwls, r hanging up signs, they have a jb fr yu. Yu culd make a big difference in the lives f hmeless dgs, cats, and ther animals!
3. Dn't supprt animals in entertainment
Animals are alive fr their wn reasns, nt t entertain us. Refuse t supprt this cruelty by never ging t a marine park r circus that uses animals.
4. Pledge t be fur-free!
Even just “a little bit” f fur trims n mittens, bts, and cllars caused tremendus suffering fr an animal wh was abused and killed n a fur farm r trapped and killed in the wild. Help prtect animals by refusing t buy r wear any fur.
5. Tell yur friends!
Share with yur friends why yu have decided t stick up fr animals and encurage them t get invlved t.

What: This lessn is the fifth lessn f Unit 1. 2a requires students t fill in the blanks with crrect wrds t cmplete the passage abut a dg. 2b lets students use what they have learned t write a pst abut their favurite animals. 3a asks students t cme up with a variety f animals, classify them, fill in the frms, and describe the animals s that thers can guess them. 3b asks students t chse sme animals in rder t design their wn z and explain why. 3c requires students t integrate the cntent f 3a and 3b, draw their ideal zs, and use the sentence patterns in the bx and what they have learned t write a paragraph t intrduce their zs.

Students design their wn zs, 3a-3c are t draw the map, and write a paragraph abut different animals in the z thrugh independent thinking and grup activities. A range f activities help students develp their thinking, cllabratin and expressin skills, and inspire their lve fr animals.
Hw: This activity is clse t daily life and stimulates students' interest. Students wrk in grups t cme up with sme animals, design their wn zs, and draw pictures. When writing the intrductin t the z, students can use sme sentence patterns in Sectin B.
