Prcedures:
Activity 1:
Play the tape and ask the children t sing alng in chrus.
Activity 2:
Play the game” Chinese whisper”, fcusing n the prnunciatin f numbers ne t ten. First, grup the children in the same number in different teams. Secnd, chse sme children t be the judges. Then ask the first child f each grup t cme ne bye ne t the teacher wh whisper t the next children what they heard. One after anther the children whisper the number as quickly as pssible. When it cmes t the last child, he /she shuld stand up and shut the wrd. The judges shuld mnitr whether the children have brken the rule which is t whisper, nw t shut. D it several runds by changing the numbers.
Activity 3:
cmplete let’s try (a survey)
Play a “guessing game”. Bring int classrm a bag with a card “Andy” n it; get the pupils t guess what and hw many schls things are in it (five pencils, six bks, ne pencil-case, ne ruler and tw erasers). The child can get a pint if he/she guesses crrectly. The winner is the ne with the mst pints.
Intrduce the tpic by telling the children, “nw we are ging t make survey f the quantities if schl things in yur bags”. T begin with, encurage the children t pl tpic-related items they have already knwn in either Chinese r English, e.g. What schl things d yu have in yur schl bags? Cllect the entities frm the children as yur teaching materials and mdel the prnunciatin.
Give task instructins by explaining what utcme is required, e.g. ask the children t cunt the schl things in their bags and then fill in the frm after the previus mdel. Then grup the children in furs. Set a time limit. Give a nne-minute warning befre the end f the task.
The children d “let’s try “in grups. The teacher ges arund. Observes and gives encuragement r help where necessary.
Ask ne representative frm each grup t reprt the result rally. Give cmments n what the children have dwn effectively t build up their sense f achievement.
