      When he mved up t junir high, he was in the hnrs math class with Mr. Max as his teacher. His lder brther, Tyler, had hinted(暗示) that Mr. Max was very interesting. Hwever, when Bbby met Mr. Max, he didn’t seem special at all.
      But things gt interesting in the secnd lessn. Mr. Max talked abut his childhd, family, twn, and favrite fds. Nne f them seemed related t math. Then he annunced they'd have a quiz (小测验) the next day abut what they'd learned.
      Bbby and his classmates felt nervus abut it. The next day, Mr. Max gave them the quiz papers with five questins. The first questin was abut his favrite fd, apples, and read: If I ate 57 apples when I was sixteen and knw the ttal amunt f apples I ate when I was sixteen and seventeen is 134, hw many apples did I eat when I was seventeen? The ther questins were abut the number f relatives he had, places he had been t, and sprts games he attended. Bbby did his best, but wrried abut his scres.
      On Thursday, Mr. Max returned their test papers with n grades written n them. He began t g ver all the questins. Suddenly, it became clear t Bbby what Mr. Max was up t. Mr. Max wrte algebraic equatins(代数方程) n the blackbard, just like thse they had learned n Mnday. Questin number ne turned int“x+57=134”, and s n and s frth.
      After he finished ging ver all the answers, Mr. Max said,“Nw we'll have a quick quiz. But this ne actually cunts. S get serius.”
      The whle class was nervus. The questin was: What have yu learned tday? Bbby thught fr a while, remembering all the times he used math while cking with his mm and driving with his dad, r when he went swimming and played basketball. Then, he wrte: Math is everywhere.
