She cllected litter n the beach and used it t create a surfbard in an effrt t raise peple’s awareness abut cean pllutin. “The feeling f catching a wave is fantastic. It’s such a mental release,” said Haske, standing n the beach waxing(给……打蜡) her newly finished trash bard. “I really hpe it flats.”
Her teacher assigned the prject mnths ag and was surprised t see hw Haske’s enthusiasm abut it grew thrughut the schl year. “Nt every student fund her passin, but she did,” said the teacher. “I’m super prud f her.”
Over the winter, Haske, wh wuld graduate sn, cllected litter including cigarette butts, bttle caps, fast⁃fd cntainers and masks alng the resrt area beach. “It was definitely a unique challenge,”Haske said.
She landed a spnsr and raised mney frm friends t create the surfbard, which cst abut $1,000. Haske tk custm rders and helped peple build their wn surfbards. Making ne ut f trash was a first fr her. Nearly the entire bard was made frm recycled material and litter.
On Tuesday after schl, Haske went ut and attempted t ride a wave n her new bard, but the mstly flat cnditins made it difficult. The nse f the surfbard made by herself kept ging under the water, but Haske stayed upbeat. “It’s pretty heavy up frnt, but it’s ging t be my best friend,” Haske said after cming ut f the water. “It’s made fr large waves.”

Scientists have discvered the wrld’s largest knwn field f seagrass. They did it using vides sht by sme unusual helpers—tiger sharks. The wrk helps prtect the seagrass, and als shws a pwerful way t explre the cean.
Seagrass is a flwering plant that nrmally grws in shallw waters near casts. It grws in thick fields, knwn as meadws (草甸). Seagrass meadws help clean the cean’s water, and prvide fd and shelter fr many sea creatures. Imprtantly, seagrass meadws als help in the fight against the climate crisis. That’s because they stre huge amunts f carbn—the harmful pllutin that’s making glbal warming wrse. Damaging these seagrass meadws can release this pllutin again, s it’s imprtant t prtect them.
Thugh they’re very imprtant, scientists dn’t have a gd idea f the size and number f the wrld’s seagrass meadws. Frm abve, the meadws can be hard t spt, because the water is either t deep r nt clear enugh. And the cean is s huge that it’s simply nt pssible t study them all by diving.
S a team f scientists decided t have sharks help with the research. Tiger sharks are huge, strng and deadly. They als live underwater, are fast swimmers and spend a lt f time in seagrass meadws.
Between 2016 and 2020, a team f researchers attached cameras and ther trackers t seven tiger sharks. After catching the sharks, scientists wrked quickly t attach the equipment and then let them g again.
The cameras were designed t fall ff after a few hurs and flat t the surface. Tracking signals helped the scientists find the flating cameras and cllect the vides the sharks had taken. The scientists were left with hurs f vides taken as the sharks traveled fr miles ver the seaflr.
8.What benefit can the scientists’ discvery bring?
A.Expanding the largest seagrass meadws.
B.Reducing the cean pllutin.
C.Helping prtect the seagrass meadws.
D.Imprving tiger sharks’ living envirnment.
9.Why can seagrass meadws fight against the climate crisis?
A.They clean dirty water.
B.They prduce many sea creatures.
C.They release huge amunts f xygen.
D.They stre large amunts f carbn.
10.What can be inferred frm the research?
A.Tiger sharks played a critical part.
B.The researchers raised several tiger sharks.
C.The researchers fund the cameras in the deep sea.
D.Tiger sharks need sme days t explre with cameras.
11.Which is the mst suitable title fr the text?

Escaping predatrs(食肉动物), digestin and ther animal activities—including thse f humans—require xygen. But that essential ingredient is n lnger s easy fr marine life t btain, several new studies reveal.
In the past decade cean xygen levels have taken a dive—an alarming trend that is linked t climate change, says Andreas Oschlies, an ceangrapher at the GEOMAR Helmhltz Centre fr Ocean Research Kiel in Germany, whse team tracks cean xygen levels wrldwide. “We are surprised by the intensity f the changes we see, hw rapidly the cntent f xygen is ging dwn in the cean and hw large the effects n the marine ecsystem are,” he says. It is n surprise t scientists that warming ceans are lsing xygen, but the scale f the drp calls fr urgent attentin. Ocean xygen levels in sme trpical(热带的) regins have drpped by an astnishing 40 percent in the last 50 years, sme recent studies reveal. Levels have drpped less significantly elsewhere, with an average lss f 2 percent glbally.
A warming cean lses xygen fr tw reasns. First, the warmer the liquid becmes, the less gas it can hld. That is why carbnated drinks g flat faster when left in the sun. Secnd, as plar sea ice melts, it frms a layer f water abve the clder, saltier sea water. This prcess creates a srt f lid that can keep currents frm mixing surface water with the water in the depths. And because all xygen enters the surface, less mixing means less f it in the depths.
Ocean animals, large and small, hwever, respnd t even slight changes in xygen by seeking refuge(庇护) in znes with the higher xygen cntent r by adjusting behavir, Oschlies and thers in his field have fund. These adjustments can expse animals t new predatrs r frce them int fd⁃scarce regins. Climate change already pses serius prblems fr marine life, such as cean acidificatin(酸化), but dexygenatin (脱氧) is the mst pressing issue sea animals face tday, Oschlies says. “After all,” he says, “they all have t breathe.”
Aside frm fd web prblems, animals face varius ther physilgical challenges as their bdies adjust t lwer xygen levels. Chinese shrimps(虾)mve their tails less vigrusly t preserve energy in lwer xygen envirnments. Sme creatures, such as jellyfishes, are mre tlerant f the lw xygen cntent than thers. But all animals will feel the impact f dexygenatin because they all have evlved their xygen capacity fr a reasn, says Oschlies. “Any drp in the xygen cntent is ging t damage survivability and perfrmance,” he says.
12.Accrding t the first tw paragraphs, what wrries scientists the mst?
A.The wrsening dexygenatin in the warming cean.
B.The survival f predatrs and varius ther marine animals.
C.The alarmingly changeable xygen levels in the cean.
D.The lack f attentin t the warming f trpical ceans.
13.Which f the fllwing is a reasn fr the xygen lss in the cean?
A.The melt f the plar ice cnsumes much xygen in the cean.
B.Glbal warming reduces the amunt f xygen in the air.
C.The plar ice water n the surface prevents xygen ging dwn.
D.Salty water hlds less gas in the increasingly warmer cean.
14.What can be inferred frm the passage?
A.Ocean dexygenatin changes sme animals’ natural habitats.
B.Ocean acidificatin is a mre serius prblem than dexygenatin.
C.Nt all cean animals are disturbed by the decreasing xygen levels.
D.Sme animals reduce their mvements in rder t absrb mre xygen.
15.Where des the passage mst prbably cme frm?
A.A bilgy textbk.
B.A realistic nvel.
C.A bk review.
D.A scientific jurnal.

故选A。

根据第二段中的“That’s because they stre huge amunts f carbn”可知,海草草甸可以对抗气候危机是因为它们储存了大量的碳。
故选A。

故选A。
故选A。
故选A。

29.D 根据下文的“every day I wuld think 31 f hw I had perated as a leader”可知,与外界隔绝意味着作者必须做大量的自我反省。
根据下文“and every day I wuld a leader”可知,作者每天都会进行自我反省。
31.B 根据下文的“hw I had perated as a leader”可知,作为探险队的领队,作者每天都要仔细地思考自己的所作所为。
故选A。
故填and。
本句已有谓语will serve,所以设空处为非谓语动词,结合设空处后的by the Census可知,cllect与The data and infrmatin之间为逻辑上的被动关系,所以用过去分词形式作后置定语,修饰The data and infrmatin。
“cntribute sth. t...”

One pssible versin:
Paragraph 1:
I liked my drawing, but after cmparing it with Daniel’s masterpiece, I felt like the wrst ever artist. I tried t tell myself that it was just fr fun and that it didn’t matter hw gd r bad my drawing was, but I culdn’t shake ff the feeling f disappintment. Just then, Rafael walked in and nticed my dwncast expressin. He asked if everything was alright and I tld him hw I felt. Rafael smiled and asked, “D yu want t knw the secret f my yummy ckies?” “What’s the secret?” I asked, expecting the answer. “It’s the fun and jy in the baking prcess. Yu knw, the mst imprtant thing abut drawing, likewise, is nt hw perfect it lks, but hw it makes yu feel. Des yur drawing make yu happy? If it des, then it’s a masterpiece.”
Paragraph 2:
When I lked clsely at everyne’s art, I culd see what Rafael meant. Even thugh sme f the drawings were nt technically perfect, they all had a special quality that made them unique and beautiful in their wn way. Mareya’s and Indi’s were bld and clrful, while mine was delicate and intricate. We all happily engaged in drawing and each drawing represented ur wn bservatin and imaginatin. I think Rafael’s wrds really captured the essence f what art is all abut. It’s nt abut cnfrming t a certain set f rules r standards, but rather abut expressing neself in a way that brings jy and meaning t the drawer and thse wh view the wrk.
