These vides are upladed nt the Internet, and then they are put tgether int ne vide that yu can see nline-a virtual chir. Anyne can take part in a virtual chir frm anywhere - all yu need is a vide camera and an Internet cnnectin.

Yu d nt even need a studi. A virtual chir helps cnnect rdinary peple tgether. Many peple d nt have clse friends r cntacts wh have the same interest in music. Many thers d nt have the chance t jin a lcal chir. A virtual chir enables them t add their vices t thse f ther individuals and becme part f the glbal cmmunity. It has prved t be a psitive influence n the lives f many peple. As ne virtual chir member said, "Music helps me t ... frget my prblems. With music, I becme smene else".
The virtual chir was the idea f award-winning cmpser and cnductr Eric Whitacre. Brn in the USA n 2 January 1970, Whitacre began studying music at the University f Nevada in 1988.He fell in lve with Mzart's classical music when he sang fr the university chir. Mved by this music, he said, "I was like seeing clr fr the first time." He graduated frm university in 1995, and then received a master's degree in musical cmpsitin frm the Juilliard Schl in New Yrk in 1997. Over the next 10 years, Whitacre's riginal cmpsitins began t becme quite ppularamng chirs and singers. This led t the creatin f the virtual chir.
In 2009, Whitacre received a vide f a girl wh was singing ne f his wrks. Inspired, he asked his fans t make vides, which he then jined tgether int ne perfrmance. His first virtual chir, "Lux Aurumque", had 185 singers frm 12 different cuntries. It has received millins f views n the Internet. Since then, the virtual chir has becme a wrldwide phenmenn.Whitacre's next effrt was the Virtual Yuth Chir fr UNICEF, which was first seen n stage n 23 July 2014 in the UK. Altgether, 2,292 yung peple frm 80 cuntries jined in t sing Whitacre's sng“What If".
