    Imagine having the pprtunity t sing tgether with hundreds f ther peple while yu are at hme alne. Yu can d this in a virtual chir. Virtual chir members recrd themselves while they perfrm alne n vide. These vides are upladed nt the Internet, and then they are put tgether int ne vide that yu can see nline—a virtual chir. Anyne can take part in a virtual chir frm anywhere---all yu need is a vide camera and an Internet cnnectin. Yu dn’t even need a studi. A virtual chir helps cnnect rdinary peple tgether. Many peple dn’t have clse friends r cntacts wh have the same interest in music. Many thers d nt have the chance t jin a lcal chir. A virtual chir enables them t add their vices t thse f ther individuals and becme part f the glbal cmmunity. It has prved t be a psitive influence n the lives f many peple.     The virtual chir was the idea f award-winning cmpser and cnductr Eric Whitacre . Brn in the USA n 2 January 1970, Whitacre began studying music at the University f Nevada in 1988. He fell in lve with Mzart’s classical music when he sang fr the university chir. Mved by this music, he said, “It was like seeing clr fr the first time.” He graduated frm university in 1995, and then received a master’s degree in musical cmpsitin frm the Juilliard Schl in New Yrk in 1997. Over the next 10 years, Whitacre’s riginal cmpsitins began t becme quite ppular amng chirs and singers. This led t the creatin f the virtual chir.
