教学目标	By the end of this section, students will be able to: 1. grasp some expressions about American food; 2. identify the origins of American food during listening; 3. learn how to take notes during listening; 4. talk about the special dish(es) they like; 5. identify pauses and understand their usage; 6. correctly use pauses in speaking.
教学主题	听力板块的活动主题是“讨论几种美国食品的起源”（Talk about the origins of American food）。现代美国文化就是多种文化融合的结果，而这里介绍的几种美国食品正是文化融合现象的具体表现。语音部分学习的重点是意群的停顿。
教学重点	1. 引导学生掌握几种美国美食的英文表达； 2. 引导学生在听的过程中，识别美国食品的起源； 3. 引导学生学会如何在听的过程中记笔记； 4. 引导学生识别句子中意群的停顿，并了解停顿的用法。
教学难点	引导学生用所学知识介绍自己喜爱的一道民族美食；引导学生能在表达中灵活地运用停顿，准确地传递信息。
教学内容与过程	Lead-in 展示主题图片，并提出问题引发学生讨论，为后面的教学活动做准备：  Where do you think this photo was taken?  What can you see in the photo? How wold you describe it? 2. 让同学们谈谈对美国的了解，激活学生的背景知识。 Step 1 Pre-listening 呈现活动1中的图片，并给每张图片配以文字，让学生将图片与相应的英文名匹配，并猜测这些食物受哪些国家的影响。引导学生浏览活动2的题目，预测听力内容。 Step 2 While-listening 播放录音，让学生思考如下问题并完成活动2，核查活动1的匹配是否正确：  Who are the speakers?  What is the topic of the conversation?  How many examples does the interviewee give to support his opinion? What are they? 让学生浏览活动3的五个句子，体会并找出听中需特别关注的信息点。接着播放录音，让学生完成活动3，判断句子正误。带领学生学习活动4旁的听力策略，学习如何记笔记。接着让学生浏览表格，预测所填内容；最后播放录音，让学生完成活动4，将所示表格补充完整。让学生听录音，将所示句子补充完整，以帮助学生从饮食角度了解美国文化的多样性，并积累相关表达。 Step 3 Post-listening 引导学生进行对话：假设你被邀请参加“百乐餐”，你将会带哪种菜肴赴宴，并结合问题提示和同伴说说你选择带这一菜肴的理由。可提供相关表达让学生更好地进行对话。  What food / snack from which area / ethnic group will you bring?  How is the food prepared and what is it made of?  How is this food special? Step 4 Pronunciation 引导学生了解停顿的相关知识及其用法。  Do you think pauses are useful? And why?  When do we use pauses? 让学生浏览活动1的段落，思考如下问题，试着在文中标出停顿的位置。  What is this text about?  What did you learn about Native Americans from the text? 3. 播放录音，让学生检查自己标出的停顿是否正确。 4. 让学生完成活动2，听录音，进行跟读训练。 Step 5 Homework Role play the conversation in Activity 5 with your partners. Pay attention to your pauses.					备注
