2. use some key information to infer the relationship between the speakers during listening;

3. identify how people celebrate the three festivals during intensive listening;

4. discuss their favourite festivals with their partners;

5. grasp the rules of assimilation and apply these rules into practice.

主 题

听力板块的活动主题是“谈论节日活动”（Talk about festival activities），主要是从贴近学生日常生活的角度来切入“节日”主题。学生会听到发生在三个国家不同节日场景下的简短对话，对话中的人们正在参与或将要亲历不同的庆祝活动。随着全球化的进程加速，国际交流日益频繁，无论是国人走出国门还是外国友人访问中国，都已成为司空见惯的事情。因此，该板块所选取的三个典型节日场景都属于跨文化交际语境，不仅每组对话中的人物来自不同的文化背景，对话者的身份和关系也不尽相同。语音部分主要学习和巩固英语中的语音同化现象（assimilation）。

Lead-in

展示主题图片，并提出问题引发学生讨论，为后面的教学活动做准备：

     What can you see in the photo?

     What is the name of this festival and how do you celebrate it?

Step 1 Pre-listening

1. 引导学生完成P2活动1，观察图片，了解节日文化背景，并用所给词汇和短语描述图片中的节日。

     What festivals do the three pictures show us?

     In which country do you think people usually celebrate each festival?

     How do people celebrate the festivals?

2. 引导学生学习P2活动2右边的听力技巧，为接下来通过听力推测对话人物之间的关系做准备。

     What does a tour guide usually say to a tour group? What expressions are frequently

 used?

     What questions does an interviewer usually ask during an interview?

     What would a reporter say or do if he/she wants to interview a tourist?

     How do friends usually talk?

Step 2 While-listening

1. 播放录音，让学生完成P2活动2，通过听来判断三个对话分别发生在哪个节日场景中，以及根据所听内容判断对话双方的人物关系。
2. 播放录音，让学生完成P3活动3，将下列句子补充完整。
3. 播放录音，让学生完成P3活动4，记录三个不同节日的庆祝活动。

Step 3 Post-listening

让学生完成P3活动5，和同伴谈谈自己所喜爱的节日并简要说明理由。

Step 4 Pronunciation

1. 播放P3活动1的录音，让学生边听边关注黑体字母的发音变化。

2. 引导学生观察P3活动2中的6个句子，思考如下问题：

          Are the consonants in bold pronounced the same in a word as in a sentence?

3. 播放录音，让学生跟读活动2中的句子，体验黑体字母在句中的发音；然后与同伴讨论黑体辅音字母在单词中的发音与在句子中的发音有哪些不同，描述语流中的语音同化现象。老师结合学生发言，进行适当的补充。

Step 5 Homework

Choose one conversation and do role-play. One student plays as an interviewer, and the other student plays as interviewee. There are some questions suggested.

          What is the purpose of this festival?

          How do you usually celebrate this festival?

          What do you like best about this festival?
