    Topic: Unit 5 Do you have a soccer ball? Section A 2d-3c (Period 2)

    Teaching Objectives

    1. Knowledge aims:

    (1)       Students can know and properly use the key words: let, us, go, we, late, has, get, great, play, sound.

    (2)       Students can comprehend the sentence structure Do you/they have...? Does he/she have... to talk about ownership.

    (3)       Students can use the sentence structure Lets...to give advice.

    1. Ability aims: Students can use the target language to talk about ownership, and can correctly use the auxiliary verbs do/does. They can find out the rules by themselves. Students can predict the main idea of a passage by the picture.
    2. Cultural awareness: Students can learn many ball games and know the differences of them in different countries.

    Key and Difficult Points

    1. Key point: Students can summarize the sentence patterns and use them in proper way to talk about ownership.
    2. Difficult point: Comprehend consistency of the subjects and auxiliary verbs do/does, and use them in sentences.

    Teaching&Learning Methods

    Teaching Methods: Communicative Teaching Method; Task-Based Teaching Method.

    Learning Methods: Self study, Pair work, Group work.

    Teaching Procedures

    Step 1: Review

    Do you have a ...?

    Yes, I do. /No, I dont.

    Intention: To review the sentence patterns in the last period.

    Step 2: Pre-reading (prediction)

    Observe the picture carefully. Answer the questions below.

    1. Who are they?
    2. What are they going to do?

    Intention: To lead in the context of the conversation by observing the picture in 2d. Let Ss predict the main idea of the conversation of 2d by the picture.

    Step 3: While-reading

    1st reading: tick the things they need.

    Task 1: Complete the dialogue based on the pictures.

    Do you have a ping-pong ball? Yes, I do.

    Do you have a baseball? No, I don’t. I have a basketball.

    Does he have a volleyball? Yes, he does.

    Does he have a basketball? No, he doesn’t. He has a soccer ball.

    Do they have a tennis ball? Yes, they do.

    Do they have a tennis ball? No, they dont. They have a volleyball.

    Can you find out the rules? How do you use do and does?

    Task 2: Practice

    Work on 3a. Write each words in the correct place.

    Change the sentence into a simple question.

    Intention: Ss find out the rules of do and does by themselves and do some practice according to the rules.

    Intention: Grammar focus contains the most important rules that Ss learned in the period, so write it down is a good way to consolidate the knowledge. The practice on the exercise book is comprehensive to cover the key points.
