【Teaching Objectives】

Knowledge aims：

(1)     Students can master the key words and phrases: interesting, boring, fun, difficult, relaxing, watch TV, especially the pronunciation of them.

(2)     Students can master these sentences: “Let’s play computer games”, and “That sounds interesting”.

Ability aims：

(1) Ss are able to understand the organization of yes/no question with “do” and “have” in it.

(2) Students can understand the conversation talking about sports-playing, and make judgement with descriptive adjectives.

Emotion aims:

Students can cultivate good habits of taking outdoors activities-various sports, instead of just playing video games.

【Key&Difficult Points】

Key points:

(1)     Students acquire key information from the listening material, such as interesting, difficult, and boring.

(2)     Students talk about sports-playing, and make judgement with descriptive adjectives.

Difficult points:

(1)     Students say correct sentences in accordance with the rule of subject and verb agreement.

(2)     Ss can answer “Do you have...” correctly with “Yes, I do/ No, I don’t.” instead of “have/ have not”.

Step 1: Lead in

Do you have the similar experience. What do you think of it?

Presentation of new words: difficult, easy, interesting, boring, relaxing, fun.

Intention: To set the scene to present the new words by pictures. The pictures are all the experiences of Paul.

Step 2: Pre listening

Task 1: Paul experienced all of them. Let’s match.

Work on 1a. Match the words with the pictures.

Task 2: What do you think of other activities?

It is + adj. + to do.

Intention: To use the description words by using the sentence structure It is + adj. + to do. To make a connection between activities in the last period and the description words.

Step 3: While listening

Task 2: Work on 1b

Listen and check the description words you hear in 1a.

Task 3: work on 1c

What does Paul say about these activities? Choose a word from 1a to fill in each blank.

Task 4: Listen and fill in the blanks.

Intention: To give Ss a series of listening practice to have them more familiar with the description words in 1a and to make clear how to use them in context.

Intention: This is an output activity. To provide students an opportunity to use the target language in the real context by pair work.

2. Make sentences based on 1d(4 groups).

Intention: 1d is a summary of the lesson. Two sentences in this part can cover all the key points in the period. To make sentences can check students understanding of description words and sentence patterns.
