设计说明 首先复习Reading 的内容,讲述奥黛丽·赫本的故事,利用文中含有though和although 的例句导入语法内容,通过一系列的讲解和练习,学习连词though, although, so…that, such…that, so that以及它们引导的状语从句的用法,学会用连词来构成语句,表达自己的想法。 教学目标 通过本课时的教学,让学生达成以下目标: 1.知识目标 掌握单词和短语: rush hour, park, car park, row, amazed, mistake, kung fu, DVD, actor, mistake …for…; 掌握although, though, so…that, such…that, so that引导的从句。 2.能力目标 (1)掌握连词的用法以及它们引导各种从句的用法; (2)学会用连词来表达思想,培养写作能力。 3.情感目标 通过学习,培养学生良好的个人品质,不盲目追星。 重点难点 重点:学习生词和短语以及连词的用法。 难点:灵活使用连词来表达思想。 教学准备 PPT 课件;相关图片。 授课时数 1课时 教学过程 Step 1 Lead-in 1. Free talk. Talk about Audrey Hepburn. What do you learn from her? 2. Show some sentences about Audrey Hepburn on the screen. Colette insisted that Hepburn was the perfect girl for the lead role in the play, although Hepburn had never played any major roles before. Although he was a great player at university, the NBA was not interested in him. Though I like acting, I’d rather be a director. The music for the Beijing Olympics uses traditional Chinese music and the sounds of an ancient Chinese bell, though it is in a Western style. Step 2 Grammar A 1. Read the sentences with though/although on the screen. Give them some explanation about the two conjunctions and their usage. (1) although/though连词, 尽管, 虽然, 常用于引导让步状语从句。让步状语从句表示即使出现从句中的情况,主句动作仍然会发生,有“退一步说……”的意思。 (2) although和though可用于句首或句中, 但不能与连词but同时使用,不过可与yet, still连用。 (3) although和though在一般情况下可以互换使用。在口语中,though较常使用,although比though更正式一些。 I will try it, although I may fail. 即使我可能失败,我也要试一下。 Although /Though (it was) snowing, it was not very cold. 虽然在下雪, 但是天气不是很冷。 There is air around us, although we can’t see it. 尽管我们看不见, 但我们周围全是空气。 Although / Though you are a little younger than me, yet you are much taller. (√) Although / Though you are a little younger than me, but you are much taller. (×) 2. Do the exercise. Join the two parts of each sentence with although/though. (1) I left early to avoid the rush hour/there was a lot of traffic in the streets Although/though I left early to avoid the rush hour, there was a lot of traffic in the streets. (2) I could not find a space to park my car/the cinema had a big car park I could not find a space to park my car, although/though the cinema had a big car park. (3) I finally got a ticket/my seat was in the last row in the corner Although/though I finally got a ticket, my seat was in the last row in the corner. (4) people kept coming in/the film had already been on for 15 minutes People kept coming in, although/though the film had already been on for 15 minutes. (5) I felt very hot/I only had a T-shirt on I felt very hot, although/though I only had a T-shirt on. (6) some people were talking loudly/they were told to keep quiet Some people were talking loudly, although/though they were told to keep quiet. Step 3 Grammar B 1. Show a picture and some sentences with so…that or such…that. The flowers are beautiful. Everyone likes them. The flowers are so beautiful that everyone likes them. They are such beautiful flowers that everyone likes them. She is a lovely baby. Everyone loves her. She is such a lovely baby that everyone loves her. The baby is so lovely that everyone loves her. 2. Give them some explanation about so… that and such… that. (1) so…that引导结果状语从句 so…that句型中的so是副词,常用来修饰形容词或副词, 常用句型为: 主语+谓语+so +adv./adj.+that从句.。 She is so young that she can’t look after herself. 她如此小,不能照顾自己。 The boy ran so fast that I couldn’t catch him. 那个男孩跑得很快,我追不上他。 (2) such …that作“如此……以至于……”讲,连接一个表示结果的状语从句。such后跟名词性短语。 a. such+a(n)+adj.+单数可数名词+that… He is such a clever boy that everybody likes him. 他是一个如此聪明的男孩,以至于每个人都喜欢他。 b. such+adj.+不可数名词+ that… He has made such great progress that the teachers are pleased with him. 他进步这么大,老师对他很满意。 c. such+adj.+复数名词+that… They are such interesting novels that I want to read them once again. 这些小说如此有趣,我还想再读一次。 d. 如果名词前有many, much, few, little等词修饰的话,则不用such,而用so,其中要注意little这个词当它表示“数量少”时才可以和其他三个词有同样的用法。 He had so many falls that he was black and blue all over. 他摔了很多跤, 以至于全身上下青一块,紫一块的。 He had so little education that he was unfit for this job. 他所受教育很少, 不适合做这份工作。 3. Translate the sentences with so…that and such…that. (1) 这些问题太难了,没有人能回答。 (2) 这部电影太好看了, 电影院里座无虚席。 (3) 天气如此冷, 以至于没人出去。 (4) 他的钱是如此少, 不能买这辆车。 (5) 她的朋友是如此少, 以至于感觉很孤独。 Answers: (1) The questions are so difficult that nobody can answer them. They are such difficult questions that nobody can answer them. (2) This film is so good that the cinema is full of people. This is such a good film that the cinema is full of people. (3) The weather was so cold that no one went out. It was such cold weather that no one went out. (4) He has so little money that he can’t buy the car. (5) She has so few friends that she feels lonely. 4. Do the exercises on P99. Answers: 1 Hepburn was so beautiful that many people were amazed by her beauty. 2 Hepburn was such a kind lady that she spent her last few years working with UNICEF to help poor children all over the world. 3 Hepburn acted so well that some people mistook her for a real princess. 4 Hepburn was such a great actress that she will always be remembered. Step 4 Grammar C 1. Show the sentences on the screen. Lead in Grammar C. Hepburn spent her last few years working closely with UNICEF so that she could help poor children in different parts of the world. 2. Give more explanation. so that可以引导目的状语从句,意为“以便;为了”,从句中常使用can /could /may /might /will /would / should等情态动词或助动词,此时可与in order that互换。 I spend more time learning English every day so that (=in order that) I can make greater progress this year.今年为了取得更大进步,我每天花更多的时间学英语。 3. Translate the sentences to grasp so that further. (1) 我戴眼镜是为了看得更清楚。 I wear glasses so that I can see more clearly. (2) 他借了很多书, 以便在暑假里阅读。 He borrowed many books so that he could read them in the summer holiday. (3) 为了能赶上早班车, 他们早早就起床了。 They got up early so that they could catch the early bus. (4) 说慢点, 好让我听明白你。 Speak slowly so that I can understand you. 4. Do the exercises on P100. Explain some sentences if necessary. Answers: 1 I have bought a lot of DVDs so that I can learn more about Chinese kung fu. 2 I will lend them my DVDs so that they will learn what Chinese kung fu is all about. 3 I attended a course on Chinese kung fu so that I could improve my skills. 4 I have many pictures of him in my room so that I can see him whenever I want. Step 5 Language points Some people mistook her for a real princess. 有些人错误地把她当成真正的公主。 mistake (mistook, mistaken) v. 误以为 mistake…for… 把……误以为…… Lily and Lucy are twins. I often mistake Lily for Lucy. 莉莉和露西是双胞胎,我经常把莉莉误认成露西。 Jim was mistaken for his brother by his teacher. 吉姆被老师错误地当成是他的兄弟。 Step 6 Homework 1. Revise Grammar and finish the exercises. 2. Preview Integrated skills. Preview the words and read through the notes.
