Since 1955, she has wrked at China Academy f Chinese Medical Sciences as a tenured and chief researcher. In 1969, she wrked as the leader f a research team aiming t discver a treatment fr malaria. By 1972, she had managed t extract qinghasu frm a Chinese herb, which is very effective in fighting malaria.
Furteen years later, she btained a New Drug Certificate fr qinghasu, issued by the Ministry f Health f China. Because f her great cntributin, she was presented with the Nbel Prize at the age f 85. In 2019, she was als nminated fr “The Greatest Persn f the 20th century”.
