情感目标:通过了解约翰·斯诺探究霍乱病源、切断感染源,并最终阻止霍乱的事件,理解科学中质疑精神。
教学重难点
教学重点:引导学生研读语篇、梳理信息、分析结构,了解科学研究的基本步骤,并学会在阅读中发问。
教学难点:理解质疑精神在科学研究中的重要作用,思考科学研究对人类的影响。

What caused the outbreak of cholera in London in 1854? (The water which came from the River Thames and had been infected by waste.)
Was cholera destroyed completely? (No.)
How can we prevent cholera? (By drinking pure or boiled water, and eating clean food.)
What contributions did John Snow make to science? (He helped people know how to prevent cholera. He transformed the way scientists study diseases by using maps and statistics. )

A: Snow thought that cholera was caused by germs in food or water.
②Q: Why did Snow have the handle of the pump removed?
A: Snow had the handle of the pump removed so that it could not be used.

A: The cholera threat was defeated thanks to the work of John Snow.

His work can protect people from being killed by the severe disease. Further more, it told us we should protect our environment from being polluted.
