    ( Teaching material analysis)
    In the sectin “Starting ut” , the jar in the vide is a metaphr fr life. Rcks, pebbles, sand and tea in the jar represent different life experiences and each f them plays its separate rle in life. Students are expected t have them priritized and spent prper time dealing with them.
    In the part “Understanding ideas”, the reading material presented as a web page cvers a brief intrductin t the bk Tuesdays With Mrrie, as well as fur readers’ reviews n the bk, which analyzes hw t bravely and calmly face death frm different angles s as t help students establish a crrect utlk n life, values and friendship thrugh reading and thinking. Als, students are expected t imprve the abilities t understand English text and appreciate English literature.
    (Teaching bjectives & Cre Cmpetencies and Values fr students)
    1. Lead students t discuss hw t make a plan fr life and understand the wisdm f life by watching the vide and lking at the pictures.
    2. Guide students t get the main idea f the text and basically understand the theme f the bk Tuesdays With Mrrie.
    3. Guide students t perceive the textual structure and linguistic features f the text, and then use the relevant language t express themselves.
    4. Help students t master hw t write a bk review and a brief intrductin t a bk.
    (Teaching fcuses)
    1. Lead the students t actively think and talk abut the meaning f life that bjects in the jar represent.
    2. Develp students’ reading cmprehensin and analyze the textual structure as well as linguistic features f the passage .
    3. Guide students t think and share hw t write a bk remark and share the wisdm f life that they have learn abut.

    Activity 1
    1. Have students watch the vide and fill in the frm.

    2. Have students lk at pictures and chse the things used as metaphrs fr life.
    Step 2 Befre reading
    Activity 1 Have students read reviews n the back cver f the bk, Tuesdays with Mrrie, and answer the questins in pairs.
    ① What metaphr fr life is used in the reviews?
    ② When peple are described as “watching yu kindly frm further alng the way”, what des this mean?
    Step 3 While reading
    Activity 2 Read the passage abut the cmments n the bk Tuesdays With Mrrie. Discuss the reasns fr giving the bk their wn likes.
    Activity 3
    1. Read again and chse the tpics f the bk mentined in the passage and find the evidence.
    Activity 4 Organize infrmatin frm the passage and cmplete the table.
    Step 4: Pst- reading: Think & share
    Wrk in pairs. Have students think back the key infrmatin in the text and share their answers t the questins given n Page 16.

    ② What is yur understanding f Auden’s wrds: “Lve each ther r perish”?
    ③ Hw d yu usually learn lessns abut life? Thugh experience r learning frm ther peple?

    Step 5: Language appreciatin
    1. Despite its widespread recgnitin, my first impressin was that Tuesday with Mrries is just made up f a cllectin f ver-emtinal thughts and messages, many f which are repeated.
    [句式分析] that至句尾为that引导的表语从句;many f which引导非限制性定语从句,关系词which指先行词thughts and messages. 其中短语 be made up f 意为“由...组成或构成”。
