高中英语（外研版）必修三UNIT-3 The World of SciencePeriod-1  Starting out and understanding ideas教学设计教材中本课主要内容分为两个部分，即starting out和understanding ideas.Starting out主要通过一段视频和几幅图片，引导学生说说视频内容理解以及对图片进行描述，分别谈谈图片中节选的小说片段是什么“发明”，从而引出本节课话题。此外，通过观看视频，能让学生了解视频所传递的信息和思想，进而引导学生对本节课话题进行探索。Understanding ideas先让学生说说两幅图片的异同，引导学生说说现代科技发明为人类带来的好处，从而引出本课阅读内容和文章大意，进而引发学生对科技发明的思考。语言技能目标（1）学生能够借助关键词，在理解文章大意的基础上，找出段落主题句，完成读前问题；（2）用所学的词汇和语言的对课文进行复述；（3）能够读懂细节信息并能理解阅读中生词含义。语言知识目标（1）能够正确运用一下单词和短语:  press, shoot, gunpowder, compass, virtual, flexible, battery, compute, capable, stuff, desire, virtual reality, wearable tech, in addition, never say never等。（2）能够理解文章中长难句并准确翻译。文化意识目标（1）了解可以发明的时代意义；（2）了解人们对科技发明的看法和理解。情感态度目标正确认识和理解科技发明的重要性，以及科技发明到底是为人类带来福祉还是负面影响。理解文章逻辑关系及架构，理解文章写作意图；引导学生谈论科技发明对自身的影响。 教学步骤教学活动设计意图时间Step-1 Starting outActivity-1Read about the inventions from famous novels and choose those that have became a reality.Activity-2Watch the video and answer the questions.1)  Which of the inventions in the video interests you most? Why?活动1：采用引导的方式引入本单元话题，拓宽学生眼界的同时也锻炼学生整合能力，并激发同学们热情和参与课堂的积极性。活动2：教师引导学生观看与本课相关的视频，鼓励学生与同学分享观点，激发学生的兴趣。此外，通过表达训练，可以锻炼学生口语能力和思维灵活性，更好地导入课题。5分钟Step-2 Pre-readingActivity-1 1)  Look at the pictures and talk about how the way we live has changed over time.
