STEP 1 A guessing game
Take an exercise bk t the classrm. Tell the students that ne f them has dne well in yesterday’s hmewrk. Can yu guess wh he/she is?In this way, the students’ attentin is drawn t describing a persn. They will surely get the right persn. If nt, I will give them sme hints.
STEP 2 Talking abut ne’s appearance
It is imprtant t learn t describe ne’s appearance.
When we see a persn, we dn’t pay attentin t his facial appearance at the first sight. We can nly tell his/her general appearance. Can yu think f wrds that talk abut ne’s general appearance?
Here we shuld pay attentin t sme f the wrds. Fr example, we seldm us ‘thin’ r ‘fat’ t talk abut peple, because they sunds implite, smetimes it may hurt that peple.
STEP 3 Bys r girls?
Sme f the wrds can nly be used t talk abut by, while sme nly with girls. S it is als very imprtant t make it clear.
a. Have the students finish Part B in tw r three minutes.
b. Discuss the answers with the students. Make sure they feel cnfident in using these wrds.
It must be stated very clear that handsme can nt nly g with bys but als with girls. But when it describes girls, it means ‘having an attractive appearance with large strng features’, smetimes it means ‘端庄的’ in Chinese.
But, ‘beautiful’ and ‘pretty’ are nt the same. Usually, ‘pretty’ is used t mdify girls wh are small but beautiful.
STEP 4 Talking f smething special abut ne’s appearance
Hwever, it is nt enugh that we describe peple’s general appearance. Fr example, when I say ‘My friend is gd-lking’, d yu knw whm I am talking abut? N. S it is really imprtant fr us t learn t describe ne’s facial appearance and learn t talk abut smething special abut smene.

Well, it may seem a little bit bring if we nly name and write the wrds n the blackbard. S it is imprtant fr me t d smething t take cntrl f the class.
I think it is gd way t describe the students in the class, as I am teaching the wrds. The students will be well-mtivated t describe the students arund them.
They will surely have fun this way.
STEP 5 Activity
Nw, we can easily write abut smene’s appearance. Can yur write abut ne f yur classmates? Let the thers guess wh he /she is? Yu need t write at least 5 sentences.
Give the students 5-6 minutes t write the passage. Get sme f the students t read alud
