Lakyntiew, who has four children and two grandchildren, decided to go after her higher secondary education over three decades after dropping out of school. Earlier this year, she was one of the 24,267 students who appeared for the state board's Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate(HSSLC) exam. Lakyntiew took part in the exams for the arts stream and had chosen subjects like Khasi, English, Political Science, Economics, and Education as her areas of specialization.
On July 13, 2020, when the results were announced, she was excited. "Though I only got the third division(分段), my children were still so excited that they started shouting, hugging, and kissing me when the results were declared," said Lakyntiew.

She decided not to buy any new clothes or footwear for a whole year after she returned home to Adelaide, in Southern Australia, and she made it.
But last year, as her wedding day approached, she faced a dilemma. She wanted to look good on the most important day of her life, but how could she spend a small fortune on the wedding dress she would only wear on that day?

The first time I wore it after the wedding was to vote in the Australian election in early 2019," the 43-year-old adds. "Since then, it's been to all sorts of places. Wearing it on a crowded train was especially funny, but I've worn it to do housework, to football games and to the gym."
Hall says that she has gotten some strange looks from people, but no annoying comments. Anyway, she doesn't really care, because she knows she has to hit the goal she has set and wearing the dress multiple times is the most reasonable way she could think of to make the most of her wedding dress.

He had conductive(传导性的) hearing loss, caused by a liquid in his middle ear, as well as loss due to nerve damage.” Said Dr. Ross Fletcher, chief of staff at the VA Hospital. “ A combination of a drug he was taking and the earthquake event itself likely led to him losing the liquid and gaining back his hearing.”
Dr. Jennifer Smullen of the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary said the shaking itself might not have been enough to clear the fluid from Valderzak’s inner ear.” But if somebody is suddenly surprised, and shouts out, sometimes that’s enough to clear some fluid out the ear drum,” she said.
Valderzak had adjusted to his hearing loss with the help of a special microphone and some training in lip reading. But he situation was far from satisfactory.

Once the image is recognized by the AI, students can collect points and use them to buy gifts or charity meals which will be donated to children in poor rural areas. The artist says she’s inspired by the pebbles’ shape, the richness of their patterns, and the beauty of nature. “I use all the pebbles in their original form shaped only by nature itself.” says Szilajka.
When Szilajka is creating her art, she lets her feelings shape the details. “This way the completed picture becomes dynamic in spite of the fact that the pebbles themselves play a static(静态的) role in the work of art,” explains the artist. “It’s like a photo taken in the perfect time. It includes the movement, the feeling, the story which can be continued. This way there are not only pebbles in the pictures but invisible fingerprints and ‘soul-prints’ as well.”
When creating her art, Szilajka often relies on her customers’ ideas but uses her artistic freedom as well. “If I only listen to myself, I do think that the most essential elements in life stand on the simplest things,” says the artist. “For me, art is adding that little something extra to simple subject matters.”
The artist believes that the completed work of art is not only her own but a common creation of the artist and the receiver. “These two things together is pebble art,” explains Szilajka. “It only becomes a real work of art if it really means something to the receivers as they have the opportunity to add their own feelings and thoughts as well.
